Should You Still Use Windows 8 (or 8.1)?

The unloved Windows 8 become the slightly more loved Windows 8.1, but at this point most people have moved onto Windows 10. The question is: Is it still safe to use Windows 8.1? When will security and support end for the OS?

I just installed Win 8. 1 pro 64 bit on my gaming PC, because I still have a license from an old laptop, I'm just bored seeing Windows 10 and it doesn't make any difference to play

I love windows 8.1. I personally prefer it to both windows 10 and 7 though 7 is still amazing!!

I have way to many issues with Windows 10. Always losing Graphic Connection & WiFi Card connections! With Windows 8.1 we atleast have a stable system with no issues for our Lenovo G50-45 laptops

I actually enjoy the the layout of Windows 8.1 more than Windows 10 (and why after upgrading, I promptly downgraded), but when I heard that Microsoft was pulling the plug, I went into panic mode! I wasn't sure if this was going to be like it was when I was still using Windows Vista (in which it wasn't the operating system that failed me, but the programs I used no longer supported the old operating system). I suppose that when the time comes I will make the switch to the newest operating system even though I WILL definitely miss 8.1 (assuming that I haven't gotten a new computer by then, but I tended to work my equipment until it's on its last leg). I was using windows 10 but it became soo slow after installing few applications and games but 8.1 was better in terms of speed it's good in application loading and boot time compared to windows 10 But Windows 7 was and still legend for gaming stuff now most games need windows 10 OS as platform but I really enjoyed playing games on Windows 7 than Any OS including windows 10

Mine is dual booted but my main os is Windows 8.1 and it works fine as expected😁

yeah, it's still on extended support. as long as it still gets security updates, i'm all for it.

Windows 8 (not 8.1) is the most optimized especially if you have the hardware that came out at the time of its launch. Its the most "modernish" OS without the added telemetry put in all other OS including windows 7, and its one of the best OS microsoft released in my opinion. The only reason it got so much hate was the lack of a start menu and thats such a stupid reason to hate an OS. If you have hardware and drivers that support windows 8 give it a try. The only thing i advise is to not use the apps for it and install bitdefender security they still support it.

I saw a decent use Microsoft Pro 6 with 8.1 I thought they were keeping updates until 2023 with the still be a good option for photographers and designers

Im using this for 6 years and it is still good for me because it can run games and my online class program so im happy formit

Windows 8.1 is personally best for me.The only problem was start menu which you can easily fix by using classic shell.It is also significantly faster.It gave me 20 fps boost in my potato celeron n3060 pc compared to windows 10.It took me 3-4 mins to boot up and shutdown Now it takes less than 40 sec.

In higher end or middle end pc Result may not be much noticable(Since I dont own one unfortunately).But I recommend windows 8.1

I will use Windows 8.1 until the support ends in 2023. Windows 10 is such a pain in the ass with all it's flaws. One update crashs this, the next one something else. Microsoft really becomes a freakshow since this pariah Nadella runs it.

I just downgraded my secondary laptop to Windows 8.1 due to performance reasons, it works great and I only had to install a network driver for it and it's ready to go.
