10 years is not even that long ago in computer history. Ivy bridge CPU, DDR3 RAM, native USB 3.0 support, PCIE 3.0 GPU. All familiar faces.

I have an 11 year old laptop with Windows 10 and Linux, and I use it as my daily driver with 12GB RAM and an SSD. It's very snappy, and gets about 6 hours of battery life. The keyboards on older laptops are so much better than nowadays.

I am a Software engineer in the field of Hardware test, system and chip validation.
I wrote Python code on a 2011 PC just a couple of days ago.
I supported testing software written on C that was finalized in 2009 on 2008 PC with Win XP just a year ago and this software is working now and will continue to work until 2029 at least.
Not all software is JavaScript and not all software is running in browser.

I still have that same laptop, it's functioning smoothly and running POP!_OS Linux. It has 16 GB of RAM, a 240GB WD SSD, and a 2TB internal HDD located in the CD/DVD slot. The only thing that got damaged after so many years is the battery, everything else is original. I use it as a secondary PC for programming. One of the best DELL models ever released, it's immortal.

That is exactly the laptop I am using. I use Linux though, so it runs smooth as butter.
