NASA Will Pay People To Do What?!

NASA is looking for people to lay around for 70 days and will pay them about $18,000 to do so. This is part of an experiment to test muscle mass on astronauts. Would you participate in this experiment?

The bedpan thing rules it out for me. I've had to get out of bed hours after major surgery because I couldn't pee lying down. If we were able to get up to go to the loo I'd do it in a heartbeat.

if I could sign up for the exercise group I'd be all over it, but sadly nasa isn't taking applicants at this time :( imagine the meditation you could get done...the reading...the writing...all to collect just under 20 grand while I'm at it...that's like some kinda reverse prison sentence or something

Why don't they just visit a long term skilled nursing facility?  They'll learn about pressure ulcers, muscle atrophy, limb contractions and so much more.

With my medical issues and I'm already sleeping probably 19 hours a day due to my meds, I would say yes. However, I have chronic pain so I don't think I could work out and do the activities they want. Also I self cath, so laying down to pee would not work. Unless we found a way to make it work laying down. I would do this though since I'm practically bed ridden anyways.

Wow. I actually broke a backbone in 2013 and of course got surgery, and after that I had to stay in bed for over three weeks without much moving. I was also heavily on morphin because of the pain, so after these three weeks i had to get off morphin and rehabilitate my muscles. I wasn't abled to walk 20 meters without being exhausted. I'd like to have earned 18.000 $ for that. Insteas, unill that day i am deemed unfit to work (not allowed to work) and am on welfare and very poor. But because I am german, my insurance paid the surgery and the rehabilitation so I am at least not in debt for the rest of my life. I love Europe.

I have a lot of experience just laying around, doing nothing. I wouldn't mind doing this.

I think I would go to the past, to experience these awesome time periods and see how they really where. If I went to the future I would probably be so bored when I come back. To see all the flying cars and awesome technology and then to be forested to live in our "undeveloped" world would just be pain for me.

Good question. I actually am stumped!
I'd love to see actual dinosaurs walking around. That would be unbelievable!!
But to see into the future, 500 years or so. It would be just as amazing I think.
