NASA Will Pay $18,000 To Watch You Rest In Bed--Really
"That's right, you could get paid a total of around $18,000 for lying in bed, playing games on your phone, reading books, skyping with your friends and family, taking online classes -- and even go on with your day job if you can get away with working remotely, so long as you don't get out of bed for that entire duration."

I had an extended EEG done last year and couldn't get out of bed for a week. Couldn't shower and had very limited bathroom breaks. I got very depressed and emotional over that week. Even though I'm lazy, something about not being able to move at all is aggravating.

Nope, I couldn't do it. I had glandular fever last November and last May and didn't totally recover because I couldn't stand staying in bed, even when getting up made me feel worse. I'd probably give up after 15 hours or so...

Fairly obvious how they handle bathrooms assuming you're not allowed to get up and go to a toilet, if you understand that some people spend their lives in hospital beds.

Bed pans and catheters.

the amount of atrophy I experienced after a month in a coma turns me off to this completely

I was in great shape until I became quadriplegic almost 10 years ago. I've spent most of my time in bed unable to move. It's sad watching my muscles and skin slowly deteriorate; I'm 50 pounds lighter than I used to be. Not able to use my hands for videogames, either.

My grandpa used to work for NASA and studied people who laid in bed for 12-20 days at a time. Lots of odd stories.. They had a hole in the bed to go to the bathroom so yeah....

This job isn't worth it. I broke my foot and had a cast for 3 months. After taking it off, I wasn't really able to walk without pain for 1+ year. The spot where the bone broke didn't hurt, instead the tendons hurt. All the tendons in the foot had weakened significantly, and it takes much longer for tendons to strengthen versus muscles. Muscle atrophy is the least of your worries.

I don't think I could do that. I can barely stay in the same place for 30 days. However, the whole depression thing I can deal with, cuz I already do. So really, wouldn't be that different from how things are now, other than I'd be in bed 24/7*10, which I can't do. I get restless very quickly and easily. I can barely sleep at night cuz lying down makes me restless as is. Having to be on a bed that tilts back would be horrible as well as I'd be even more restless and uncomfrotable.
