Y’all it’s not his fault for having an American accent when speaking Russian due to him moving at such a young age. Don’t go ripping him apart because of it

I feel him. I came to the United States from Mexico when I was ten years old and I feel that my vocabulary is stunted. This makes me feel shy and I only speak Spanish with my family.

In my opinion you should never be shy about knowing another language. I wish more people thought that way.

How dear that he retains and uses his native language for conversing with his father. Respect.

Learning Russian with Doctor Mike would be amazing... I actually understood what he was saying without the subtitles cause I've learned those basic things he said.

Actually, my voice is much higher when I speak Russian, but when I speak english I have so manly deep voice, that's the only reason for me to speak english.

That's funny how people have started arguing in the comment section in different languages 😂
I love being born Russian-speaking and I love learning English for almost all my life. It helps us to communicate after all.
Dr. Mike, be kinder to your roots, please, you have a superpower to understand way more, than non-bilingual people😌

It's so interesting that a native Russian speaker has such a noticeable accent in his own language after talking in English for so many years. It's a bit funny too but nothing to be shy about. I admire this so much and want to be as much fluent in English too. This is just amazing.
(I'm from Russia too and I just ADORE English language)

I mean it's fairly natural to speak Russian with an accent when you came to the US at the age of 5 or 6 and basically only spoke English from that point on

As a teacher of Russian for foreigners, I can see the interference of English in the Russian structure "ask IF I speak" literally told "спрашивают ЕСЛИ я разговариваю" (говорю ли я).
It's not good or bad, it's inevitable in the situation, and lots of kids in the families that moved to another country have this.
Thumbs up for Varshavski's dad for keeping some language environment for the doctor :)

As another bilingual, dont feel shy! The more you speak that language you more comfortable you get with it and the more it improves! And honestly living in America its impressive that youre bilingual

Oh, I love Russian! I'm slowly learning it, and it's a beautiful language, especially when people sing older songs in Russian. I once heard a hymn that I know very well in English being sung in Russia, and I got chills like I never have when I've heard it in English.

Please speak more of it.

The man has an accent while speaking his "native" language because he moved when he was a little kid. When you watch his video with his older sister, she is actually speaking English with a pretty thick Russian accent - because she had more time to "get used to" Russian as a kid. This is the reality for a lot of immigrants - their oldest kid speaking their language well, but the youngest lose it quickly

All people here nitpicking his accent are being so silly. So wait, you are saying that you born and raised in Russia have a better accent than him? Wow, how odd! How about you try moving to another place and raising a child there and having them speak your language with no accent. Not only would it be pointless, but also very very difficult.

He uses Russian when speaking with his father as he has said elsewhere, that is the only reason he knows and uses it. In America this is very common for 2nd generation immigrants. He is not going to Russian language classes, consuming Russian media to a major extent. He is not a Russian language nerd. His Russian is only for his father, and if his Russian is good enough for him who was born in Russia, then you shouldn't complain.

I love speaking Russian and hearing it spoken. I had an aide in WA who was from Russia and we got on very well because I understood her and I helped refine her English. I miss her, but I don't think I want to live in the Ring Of Fire again, lol.

He said in one of his videos he speaks it on the level of a little kid.

My mom is from Russia and I would hear her talk here and there in Russian to her family over the phone. Hearing people talk in Russian is comforting. I’m trying to learn the language but all I really know is how to read it now.
