The fact that you still finished med school amid losing your mom; that’s priceless! When my mom passed, I dropped out of school. You’re a legend, Mike!

My mom passed when I was 12 - my dad was diagnosed with terminal lung / liver cancer when I was 18. When he was in the hospital, they asked if I wanted a DNR order for him. For one, not something any 18 year old should have to answer, but I asked them if it would do any good to bring him back. When they said no, I said yes, let him go. I spent years wondering if I did the right thing. Thank you, Dr. Mike.

The amount of grace to say "stop chest compressions; you're doing damage for hope and not out of logic" is astounding. So glad to hear this story.

Gotta love a man who knows the best thing for grief is a dog.

When people say to me, "why would you listen to a YouTuber like Doctor Mike?", **THIS** is why. You've never been anything but open and honest with your community, and opening up your heart to tell such a personal story like this in such a public way takes a lot of strength, courage and character. You going public with this story is undoubtedly going to help someone going through something similar. Thanks for being you.

i lost my mom a few months ago, the day i finished my medical exams & i got the news i officially became a doctor
she fought to the last minute for me, like she always did, and in a way i believe she waited until she knew i made my dream a reality
truly it wouldn't have been possible without her, but i have trust in myself that i will be the person she raised me to become
i miss her every single second & i just remebered that mike went through a similar story so now i'm watching this
take care everyone ❤

Your mother's death was NOT your fault Dr.Mike instead you actually saved her and she received from you the best love a mother could from a son. She looks down from Heaven at you and she's very proud of you and she loves you very much Dr.Mike ❤❤.

Your mother was a beautiful woman. I am thankful for her life and the wonderful gift she gave the world by bringing you into it. A healer in many different ways.

I can sympathize with you, I’m a nurse at a pediatric hospital. My husband called in a weird voice that I will never forget, he told my 8 yr old healthy daughter was in route to my hospital ED, I was devastated…. I had no idea what happened. She was electrocuted in my next door neighbors pool. I just could not comprehend this, it was the worst day of my life. They did so much CPR that all her ribs where broken and her organ where all damaged by the aggressive way they tried to save her but she was already gone. God Bless you and your family 🙏🏻

Mad love and props, Mike. Always takes guts to get in the ring, but takes way more to be vunerable to your audience. Shoutout Roxy, too! We love you, Roxy!

Every time you tell this story you grow more and more into a place of reflection and educating. Grieving is a life long process. I'm glad you've reached the stage where you can think of your mom with it ripping away at you. I remember you stating in your original Mother's Day video, that you got a husky because it shared your mom's blue eyes. So sweet. Much love to you and your mother.
