I had a jammed finger in my thumb and it hurt like hell and became swollen, it hurt for many weeks but I decided to ignore the pain not telling everyone hoping it would go away, many times throughout the week when play basketball in secondary school I hit it straight on which caused further pain and discomfort. It healed but took a long time😅

Exactly the way you showed is how I broke my finger. I tried tackling the ball off but i sprained my finger and it got swollen and won't bend fully
