Hurricane Helene has killed at least 128 people across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Virginia.

The death toll is expected to rise once communications are restored in isolated towns.

Hundreds of roads remain closed, and thousands of people have registered for assistance.

Helene was a powerful Category 4 hurricane when it slammed into the Florida Gulf coast on Thursday.

More than 1.7 million homes and businesses in six states from Florida to West Virginia remained without power on Tuesday morning.

US President Joe Biden said he would visit North Carolina on Wednesday, days after former president Donald Trump toured parts of Georgia.

This hurricane when passing over the mountains became hemmed in slowing its forward movement dropping countless feet of water on the area that had many creeks, lakes and rivers of which, many towns were adjacent to. 😮

For Western NC, they'd just had at least two days of solid rain due to a system stalling out over that area. Then this hurricane hit the next day, getting hemmed in by the mountains due to its direction. All of it spelled massive disaster.

I always thought Sky News was not a propagandist source; if you think the citizens think the government is handling this competently you are sorely mistaken

Mountain Mule Packers taking two strings of mules in with supplies to hard to reach areas. Cajun Navy 2016 is lending a hand. Locals helping neighbors. Surrounding towns and regions sending crews. Many average folks are busting their back sides helping each other. Some bright spots in the devastating news.

I know canada has sent utility workers to the southeast to help out, so has other states and plus search and rescue. I know in eastern and central nc places have set up donation centers for supplies.
