Turkey elections: Turkey's young people put pressure on Erdogan

Young voters, many of whom have not known leadership other than President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, are expected to have a big impact on the outcome of Turkey’s presidential and parliamentary elections.
Opinion polls suggest people aged between 18 and 25 strongly disagree with restrictions on their freedom of expression, media and lifestyle, imposed by the current government.

Al Jazeera’s Sinem Koseoglu reports from Istanbul, Turkey.

Regardless of whether you support Erdogan or not. Change is always needed. In your life, in politics, in companies and in technology. Change is the most important thing in the universe. Without change there would be no dynamics

We have 85 million own citizens. There are between 5-10 million immigrants in various classes. If we include the tourists, around 100 million people are trying to live at the same time. The Turkish economy is not a US, EU, China, Japan economy. Enough is enough, this country has a population to handle, otherwise more and more difficult conditions will be waiting for us day by day.

Every 10-20 years, a new idea, a new perspective, and a new direction are needed in every country. Time is going to tear down the old ones.Erdogan is old, running on the same old ideas. But the opposition is not bringing anything new. That is the problem in TR.There is no new dimension in Turkish politics.

The problem with Turkey is that president Erdogan’s vision is way ahead of his people. He is charismatic, honest and hardworking man. However majority of the Turkish people are not exposed to the world. They have village mentality. They always believe life is good in Europe and they abandon their country to be refugees in Europe where they are treated like second class citizens and are blamed for any problems Europeans are facing.
The irony here is the same Turks are blaming Syrians for a global economic slowdown and inflation. Here in America we are dealing with 40 year high inflation and the destruction of the traditional family unit. But we don’t blame refugees or immigrants to our country for the hardship we are facing . Trump tried to blame immigrants and we kicked him out.
Like I said before, president Erdogan wants turkey to compete with best countries in the world like America or China. But the average Turk doesn’t know how far his country progressed economically in the last 20 years.
1997, Turkey was a poor country enslaved by the I.M.F and the military was weak, corrupt and taking orders from foreigners .
Military coups were common and economic progress was non existent.
In short you can take a cow to the river, but you can’t force it to drink the water. Sorry president Erdogan, you are trying to help folks who only care about bread, but some of us in America. We appreciate ur efforts in trying to advance turkey economically, socially and technologically. May God bless Erdogan and Türkiye.

What an Irony it is, Turks want to go abroad for better life, but if Syrian refugee (next door neighbor) comes to their country they said it is infringement upon their lives...(they should think before posting, I don't have exact estimate of Turks living abroad, i think it can be between 4-5 million or more is my guess, since Germany is alone have 3 million+ Turks.

National industry is the way out and I think Erdogan is progressing with that … the like of barktar, togg, getir can grow and multiply in size and number if you keep supporting your government…criticism is nice but appreciate Erdogan for given voice to opposition despite the fact that he is their for 20 years….second Turkey should stop comparing themselves with German… German successfully in tech 200 years ago when turkey was not exist as a state….be more patient you are seen improvement every year… you are face with earthquakes disasters and is not making sense to vote out a stable government at the time of national crisis …. Be wise Covid 19, coup, earthquake in the last ten years and you are complaining of economy.
