If you see Peacekeepers' equipment, they're dressed and equipped more like a riot police rather than a soldier, even until 74th year. It means up to that point they're more prepared to maintain security rather than combat. Only at 75th year they receive heavier gear like full face helmet, hard armor, and carries guns more regularly

I like that they didn't paint every peacekeeper with the same stroke, how easily Suzanne could've made them all into stereotypical villains and that would make us forget that we don't need to be villains or be super rich and powerful to oppress other people and do vile things to one another.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed that in the first movie you could see the Peacekeepers' faces even with their helmets on. Their shields were clear. It was not until the next movie like when Thread comes to District 12 that you see that or during the Victory Tour that the Peacekeepers' helmets were darkened. It was definitely foreshadowing something more sinister for the events to come. I forget if it was Thread's predecessor in District 12, Cray(?), or someone before him but in the books, Katniss hinting about almost going to his house like so many other girls have done before when Katniss was trying to feed her family before Peeta threw that loaf of burnt bread her way. So Cray may have been lax when it came to allowing the Hob to operate and such, but he was a predator. He lured young girls to his home and fed them in return for.... The dystopian version of the guy in the van with hypothetical candy. The other Peacekeeper who had red hair and was a sort of a friend to Katniss tried to help her and Gale when Gale was at the whipping post (in the books) and he got turned into an Avox for it and was put on District 12's floor for the Quarter Quell. Snow knew that Katniss would recognize her and wished to show what happens to people who help her.

I never asked for a peacekeeper lore but I enjoyed it since their so interesting even though their just soldiers but they have a huge role in the story when it comes to the world building of the hunger games.

When I think off these guys and the people they serve in a war I always think off the quote by Michale Corleone from the Godfather.

Soldiers get paid, rebels don’t. they can win.

Edit: What this basically means it that soldiers get paid to do their services, but rebels fight for a cause that they are willing to die for which makes them very motivated and dangerous whilst the soldiers may get paid alot, but are not loyal and probably also scared for failure especially with what their Commanders like Thread or even Snow do.

Great video! Thanks! Recently I heard on a podcast that Suzanne Collins' world building was horrible. I took issue with that, but what they said was, for example, why would such an advanced society need to keep an entire district that mines coal? They also made fun of how small district 12 was, saying it doesn't make any sense how little the population was for the entire former United States. What are your thoughts on that, Morgan?

One thing I've noticed is how the peacekeepers went from. You can see their faces to you can't even see their faces, just threads face. I also noticed how their uniforms changed. You went from like relaxed. Typical softer uniforms to more armored uniforms.

Peacekeepers are similar to stormtroopers from Star Wars, marines from One Piece, and other series. I know this is obvious but they are all complex.
