Hopefully we can all agree that Finnick deserved better

Something to remember about Cato's death: he had on body armor tough enough to withstand Katniss' arrows. This meant the mutts' teeth couldn't pierce it either, so they literally just pulverized his upper torso's muscles and bones for hours. His head, hands, feet, and possibly his legs (the book doesn't say how much of his lower torso the armor covered, or if it covered it at all) were bloody stumps. Katniss and Peeta waited for his screams to stop, but they never did. Eventually, Katniss fired an arrow into the bloody stump of his head.

I’m so glad you mentioned Darius. I feel like his character is often forgotten about, and so people don’t pay much attention to just how brutal his death was, but it truly was one of the worst of them all

I remember reading Cato's death in the book and the part that really got me when Collins said Cato begged but then just started whimpering as the mutts slowly tore him up. I also remember when Katniss ended his pain something mentioning how she barely could tell where his mouth was. Katniss said it looked like he was saying "please." NOPE I just hate that so much. Nobody deserves that

I will never forgive Kollins for killing Finnick. I fell like Rue's, Prim's, Cinna's .... death was meaning full. For us the readers / viewers but also for Katniss herself. Prim's death made her realise what Gale has become and that she is done with him. Rue dying made her even more determant to win and made her hate the capitol even more. But Finnick ? Pointless ! But in the end war is ....

If I’m being honest, finnicks death was super duper sad, like similar to cato’s death from the mutts. Even though the deaths were so similar, and Katniss still putting both of them out of their misery, I still liked finnick better than Cato as a character. But cato’s death was just way more sad because he just wanted to go home, and you can see in his eyes, his misery. And it just gets me all the time, and re watching that scene just makes me so sad 😭 (and finnicks death :( )

Me when reading the books: wow this is awesome

Me when listening to these brutal deaths: how is this a book marketed to children and teens?! How am I not scarred for life for reading them?

If there were 11 I think Clove should’ve been on the list. Her skull was cherished in by a rock and she didn’t immediately die. Instead she was forced to die in Cato’s arms.

I still remember reading Clove’s death as a kid and being horrified. Don’t think it’s as brutal in the first film, but I remember Katniss in the books describing the sound of her spine breaking as Thresh slammed her over and over again. Talk about brutal descriptions/deaths.

Not the most brutal, but Prim’s death destroyed me. The entire story started with Katniss volunteering for Prim to protect her and prevent her from dying and at the very end when it was least expected, she died

I always thought Boggs got the short end of the stick. Not only were his limbs completely blown off of him, but he didn't even die instantly from it. I find it incredible how he wasn't even showing all of the pain he must've felt, but instead left the world with the same strength he fought with.

I completely forgot about the muts being made from/made to look like the dead tributes! I really disliked Cato for his cocky additude, but even he didn't deserve that death! Painful both physically and mentally.

Dude Finnick’s death is so brutal and for someone who came so far and had such a big character arch in multiple books and films it’s kinda horrifying how badly he was killed

I would like to add that Cato’s death was much longer than showed in the movie. It lasted into the morning as he was ripped to shreds by the mutts.

As awful as the deaths are, it makes it all the more realistic. Props to Suzanne Collins for that.

The hunger games was way more brutal than I remembered. How did I sleep at night after watching/reading them? 😂

You know, for a game that supposedly about hunger there is A LOT of death…

You guys also have to remember that with Cato the reason is took him so long to die was because the capital sent him armor in “the feast” so he stood a chance against Katniss’s arrows. The mutts couldn’t bit through the armor.
