3 Things Atheists Get WRONG about Theism

There are so many atheists who are just as certain about their beliefs as fundamentalist Christians. But have these atheists ever thought that maybe they’re understanding theism wrong? Is it possible that many atheists could also be wrong not just about why they believe God does not exist?

Saying "God is metaphysical" is the same as saying "God is a state of mind" or "God is imaginary". Demonstrate to me that something "metaphysical" can exist outside of mental projection, and I might entertain a god's existence.

Is there a “reply all” button on this thread where I can tell all of the atheists who seemed to have missed it that you’re suggesting they’re wrong about how many people understand “god, ” and that’s not the same thing as suggesting they are wrong about whether or not [any] god exists?

If I'm going to join Mason here in broad-brushing people, here's my contribution:
Some atheists are atheists for bad reasons... but _ALL_ theists are theists for bad reasons.
Hope to see Mason's response to TMM's commentary video on this video.

9:13 _"except that you're wrong"_ Wow, the arrogance. Please explain how something can exist outside spacetime. And then, that your gods do.

As an atheist, this video is a complete strawman of my position. None of what you say in this video applies to me in anyway whatsoever. If you'd like to have a serious conversation with an atheist on your channel feel free to reach out and I'd gladly have a friendly conversation with you however is easiest for you. Trying to understand all perspectives is the reason I clicked on this video just to see a fallacious projection of my views is disappointing.

Honestly feel like you're kind of straw-manning atheists here. Maybe casual atheists who haven't studied religion assume everyone's a fundamentalist but I would argue the Richard Dawkins type "anti-theists" who want to debate are well researched and aware of the stuff mentioned in this video.

Want to come on our podcast sometime to talk about it?

Appreciate the sentiment but you may be misunderstanding that average atheist position.

You should call into Pine Creek next theist Thursday. That would be a good conversation!

Comparing god with a lab rat is funny. But why can't the god of the universe be discovered by science? If god is maximally powerful, and it wants a relationship with people, why not make itself available to be discovered by science? Especially if it interacts with the physical world.

You get atheism wrong, ironically, but almost everyone got atheism wrong.
First you don't need good reason to be atheist, because it's a default position. you need reason if you're anti-theist.
Both atheist and anti-theist don't believe in god, but atheist haven't been convinced on the claim of god, but anti-theist convinced to the claim that god doesn't exist.
Anti-theist is atheist, but not every atheist is anti-theist.
Atheist is wide term that describes people without god/believe (not influenced personally by religion).
Also usually what get mixed up in here is the term agnostic, gnostic mean knowledge, it refers to different kind of things knowledge related. You can be agnostic theist, meaning you believe what you believe but you not confident that you know.

I think that the existence of some God makes metaphysical sense to me. The existence of no God also makes metaphysical sense to me. And I like to stick to the view that what is proposed without reason to believe can be dismissed without reason to believe

All that would matter to an atheist is whether or not you can prove the existence of a god or demonstrate the metaphysical no matter where you are on the spectrum of Christianity or any other religion.

Those theists who wants atheists to prove god does not exist, i have this to say: I cannot prove 'nothing' because there is nothing to prove. With imagined entities there is not a thing provable or falsifiable.

Personally, I have an issue with metaphysics in that it doesn't really give us verifiable answers.

Kind of like astrology.

I agree that God doesn't necessarily need to be tested in a lab but God should be able to reveal itself within an empirical framework.

Your last two points were pretty much the same thing. And if god is just a metaphysical question and it’s existence can’t be proven by science then that’s as good as not being real.

Is there anyone else here because of the correction video that TMM posted here:

You already get it wrong when you say atheists “believe god doesn’t exist”

I’m an atheist and I don’t believe that

Hey Mason, thanks for the video. I myself identify as an atheist, but i appreciate that other people are still exploring the world and trying to figure out what's the best explanation for things the way they are for themselves. I hope your journey to a happy, fulfilled human is a satisfying one, whatever that may end up being.
I think comparing fundamentalist whoever to passionate folks who dig in instead of listening is always accurate, lol, because I think people on both sides have a lot in common. And just like them, you'll find atheists, theists, and agnostics, who just float around and try to be empathetic and just get through their day.
Stay safe out there and keep asking questions! Critical thinking is hard, but it's always satisfying. You got this!

I expected to find something new about atheism. Wrong! The same old nonsense about us atheists from a God believer.

I also for clarification sake want to say real quick that it is improper to characterize atheists as followers of Richard Dawkins. I have read some of his books but on a conversion to atheism stat, I don't think that Richard has historically been the leading figure for convincing people of atheism. Maybe that has been true of recently but if you look to philosophy, which is the other area of study under which the belief in god has been confined to for the majority of history, I think you will find figures like David Hume, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Bertrand Russell that have had a more influential impact. Especially because in those days theism was more pervasive and it has since then declined, they could be credited with converting more maybe. I also never came to atheism through Richard nor those I know that are Atheists, and certainly not philosophers. I don't know, just a thought.

Lol the irony is that theist are the biggest atheists, but only in regard to religions other than their own.
