As an Atheist I lack a belief in a god or gods due to a lack of evidence. That is all.

I have yet to meet an honest religious apologist.
This video didn't change that.

Most "theists" will never understand The atheist is not replacing God with another believe system.. Atheism is the absence of a believe system, more a believe in self improvement without the guidance of a "greater being".

There is an entire philosophy called Objectivism that includes absolute moral values and atheism. It's author wrote several best sellers, is not an obscure creed.

Believing we are random and there are no moral absolutes, there is nothing to say you can't trust logic. He just jumps there out of the blue.
It would be like saying, pineapple doesn't belong on pizza so cats are cute. It just doesn't follow.

Since morality only exists if minds exist, morality is by definition subjective.
It doesn't matter whether there's a god or not. Morality will always be subjective, even if imposed by a deity.

There are no moral absolutes but there are societal morals that we agree on as a fram of reference

This is the very definition of a straw man argument. Instead of showing evidence that his belief is correct, he misstates the opposing view and then demonstrates that misstatement to be wrong.

He does this because he cannot back up his beliefs with fact or reason.

As an atheist I can say this vid is blatantly wrong.

It saves time when a theist knows what I think before they even meet me

Doesn't the Bible condone slavery and stoning women to death and God creating mass genocide??? Lmao

There is no place for Creationism in the modern world. Do we upheave everything we've learnt, and revise all the knowledge we've accumulated. What happens to all of the Libraries, Universities, Colleges, and Schools? Do we replace wisdom and reasoning with religious doctrine?

And the Bible says that slavery is moral.

He could use his time to demonstrate that his god actually exists.

Oh wait…

Common sense and basic human decency are innate in everyone. Atheists just don’t need to fear punishment after death from an imaginary being in order to be good. Morals don’t come from a god. They come from empathy and cause and effect… if you can empathize with those around you then you will treat others the way you want to be treated and if you make a bad decision you will bear the immediate consequences of it. I don’t fear what happens after death I fear what will happen before it if I do something immoral. As an example: If you kill someone then you will go to prison for life or be killed in return. If this doesn’t keep you from doing it anyway then you are probably sociopath who has no care for anything beyond themselves. With or without a god… nothing changes. Those who follow the Abrahamic God tend to believe they can do whatever they want as long as they ask for forgiveness and make an act of contrition before death. That’s why the overwhelming majority of criminals are of any one of the Abrahamic faiths.

In a secular society, we decide laws by consensus. People get together and frame laws that maximise wellbeing and minimise suffering for as many people as possible. It doesn't need some heavenly dictator to decide for us how the run societies. The more we understand about human psychology the better we get at it.

Does he just not understand societies or something? Once we, as a society, agree on goals about how our society should live, there are most assuredly ways to accomplish those goals that are objectively better than others, and using that goal we can establish moral standards and absolutes that maximize the wellbeing of our populous.

If some random person violates the objective moral standards and absolutes we have established for our society, then we call that "breaking the law" and we put them in jail or somewhere else where they cannot infringe those standards again. If, however, their actions do not harm others, then we don't care because they either aren't moral issues or don't violate the moral standards and absolutes we have established.

Its not that damn hard to understand.

This is what happens when you rely on your imagination to tell you what's real, instead of taking minimal effort to verify.
There are very good reasons to use logic and reason. They are useful tools that produce objectively verifiable results. Asking any person not overly burdened with supernatural delusions would have clued this guy into why logic and reason are so highly regarded among atheists.
