The studies on weight concluded that weight gain was pretty much the same if you drink a regular soda vs diet soda a day. Also remember diet soda has aspartame. I drink both and I'm a natural body builder. Also having a soda a day will keep you less likely to binge eat or crave sugary desserts that will make you fat by indulging. Which people that are dieting usually indulge, instead of limiting the amount they can have a day. A soda completely satisfies me and actually keeps me from over eating. It's all about limitations and switching what you do up. Sugar is also a catalyst for your natural bodies creatine stores if you are lifting weights, but also keep in mind carbs turn into sugar as well. The sugar in the soda raise insulin level and this will increase creatine into your muscles, thus making them bigger. I usually just drink sparkling water. Sometimes the cravings get a little to strong for that though so i keep a 2 liter zero cal sprite in the fridge that lasts me about 2 months

you need to look at zero sugar and regular it is worse to consume zero sugar vs regular coke cola all of the artificial sweeteners in zero sugar will cause more harm then regular sugar
