Great tips. My 3 would be 1) Breathe! Breathe out before you ask for halt, every time. 2) Slow your hands down. Ask slowly, give the horse time to respond. 3) Enjoy yourself. Never forget the thrill of actually being on a horse, even when you have goals to improve or things are difficult or you lose your nerve, don't let riding become a chore or something you kind of dread

It's so cool that by just naming all the body parts, my awareness is immediately brought to that area and I am able to un-tense it.

I watched this on my couch and I did not expect to hold so much tension in all my body while theoretically relaxing. I did your exercice and it did so much good, I released a lot of tension, it felt amazing. I will try to scan my body on a horse soon, I might have some surprises ... Otherwise a riding tip that helped me a great deal to stop having too much tension in my legs was riding bareback, it finally helped me to let my legs "hang loose" instead of clinging and stiffening and it improved my foot in the stirrup position !

Hi Callie, a tip that has really helped me is the string position. It has helped me to become stronger in my core and more balanced. The book is fabulous thank you so much

Great video I love the mental picture and the way you help the rider to be more aware of there body and tension.

Hello Callie, these exercises are simple to understand and do. I think they can be so useful for me since I started again classes. I 'm going to use the first one tomorrow, tighten my tense spine and nec and let it go. You can use it at home too ! :)
I already knew the second one and used it for sitting trott and it helped good. I couldn't do sitting trott yet... Only posting trott. This idea of having a string above the head is used by physiotherapists too, to walk nicely like a model ! 😅😅👏🏻
I think you 're really brave with your students !!! Put your fingers behind their feets on their stirrups... I hope you never have been squeezed by one of them. I' ll try too tomorrow.
I wish I could do canter but the coach fears I could fall again too much. She insinuated I only should do ground work with horses due to age, when I saw here the other day. As I reacted saying no, I only desire horse riding, I love being on horses backs. ( I have nothing against ground working) She said I must not have the goal of cantering. I have not this thought. Only find again my good sit.😐 It 's so much good being back on a horse !!! 🐴😁😍😍
Lots of love Callie and thanks for your so useful videos and precise informations. You look great ! 😊👍🏻💖💕

One tip to have a good connection with your horse is to be relaxed and have good posture! Good posture is having your shoulders back and sitting upright. If you do this, you will have a happy horse!😊

Always a struggle to relax my shoulders. They tend to rise up when I'm in the canter.

In the first section I realized my jaw was clenched, hands in fists, and shoulders raised up tight, gluts squeezed, toes curled! Tension everywhere 🤦🏻‍♀️

I learned not to sit ridgid in the saddle. Move with the horse to not have tension in the back and hips
