My 3 Best Tips that Fix a NOISY CANISTER FILTER [Plus 3 Bonus Tips!] - THESE WORK!

Here are my 3 best tips that fix a noisy canister aquarium filter. Plus I've included 3 bonus tips at the end of the video. They work. I've used them successfully!

A noisy canister filter can really take the joy out of relaxing in front of your aquarium. Who wants to hear humming, tapping, buzzing, vibration and racket coming from a canister filter? I sure don't! The reason I was originally attracted to canister filters was because they are hidden and because they are quiet. But what do you do when a canister starts making noise? Hums, clicks, taps and rattles. When it gets too loud, too noisy, what do you do? Do you just live with it? Give up and throw the unit away?

These tips have worked for me, even with the less expensive SunSun canister units which I have been using for years. During that time I have never run into a noise issue that I was not able to fix using one or more of the tips covered in this video.

I hope you find this video helpful and will consider, if you haven't already done so, subscribing and hitting that notification bell and sharing the video (and the channel) with friends that could use some help fixing a noisy canister filter or are like me and always want to be learning.

Want to pick up a canister filter? I have listed some recommendations at my Amazon Store. If you use my link to get to my store, even if you go somewhere else on Amazon during that visit, my channel will get a small percentage of whatever you buy. So it's a great way to support the channel and doesn't increase your cost by one cent.

Apart from Amazon, another great way to help the channel is by visiting my Teespring store and picking up some channel merchandise. I offer mugs with pictures of some of my favorite fish that I have owned. There are also hoodies and tees with the channel logo and motto: "Always be Learning!" 2:49 mins into the video and my problem is solved!! I'm new to canisters, and my first rinse-out resulted in 1) a leak(which i found the problem) and 2) loud buzzy rattle (which i suspected was impeller related and you told me what to look for). THANK YOU!!!

Man you fixed my stuff!! I was missing the bushing on the inside of the impeller and didn't know it! I checked it out and made a replacement. Low and behold it worked! Thanks a million!

Would I like about your videos is the fact that at one time you figured out what was wrong with your filters and how to go about fixing them you and I are around the same age and we have a tendency to use our heads and common sense when it comes to problems and problem-solving

Thank you very much Ben. Followed your instructions and it worked great. I was so close to replace mine with a more expensive filter and now I could sleep next to it.

Getting ready to put together my first 125 and getting my first canister filters. Great info as always Thanks Ben!

Super helpful! It was the impeller causing all the racket in my freshly unboxed Aquatop. I discovered it didn't come with the rubber tip needed to stabilize the impeller's rod, but luckily the same tip from my recently deceased Eheim fit in there. Magic!

Great video!!!!Giving the impeller a good clean then adding some pure petroleum jelly (Vaseline) On the shaft, impeller and a bit in the housing also helps a lot it also prolongs the life of the impeller and the life of the canister

Good tips. I have a Penn Plax Cascade with a rattling impeller and already did all your tips. However, I think the impeller shaft needs a spacer/washer to center it vertically. I'm gonna try it.

I was very happy with the performance of this filter (non uv model) my Ehiem crapped out after many years and i couldnt get it to work properly so i needed a new filter asap, ordered off amazon and again, very happy. My only gripe is its rather noisy, its not horrible, but compared to the ehiem and rina filstars, it is. The impeller trick reduced it to a more reasonable level. I had it perfect but transporting it over to the tank after a cleaning made it a bit loose. For the price, you get a bit on the flimsy side of plastics but otherwise its well worth the money.

Been running my 704B for about a half year in an overstocked over filtered 37 gal tank full of Rusty Cichlids. Initially it became noisy after a few days and it took me a while to figure out that pre-filter blockage on the intake was the culprit. Had to buy a larger coarser pre-filter and squeeze it out when it becomes full - no noise no problem. After watching your videos I bought my Sun Sun on sale for $69. Love this quiet powerful monster. For only $300 more I could have bought a Fluval FX6 ;-{) BTW - Youtube stopped email notifications for all my subscribed channels including yours.
