My 6700 XT still does well in 1440p and eats 1080p gaming!

My 3060ti runs 1440p pretty well. Also 1440p is technically 2.7k not 2k for those wondering

I rarely see anyone mention a very important issue I face when choosing between upgrading to the RX 7800 XT or the RTX 4070: the PSU you currently have. If you're using a 650W power supply, theoretically, you can run the RTX 4070, but forget about the RX 7800 XT. Upgrading your PSU? Well, that would eliminate the price-to-performance advantage of the RX 7800 XT. This is giving me such a headache

Honestly i say it depends on your budget. I got a 4080 which can run 4k perfectly fine, but i prefer to game on a 1440p monitor. The resolution is still leagues better than 1080p, and the performances in games is leagues better than if i was to switch to 4k.

Now regardless of budget if someone is wanting a new monitor.

I say 1080p is best for performance, and competitive gaming.

1440p is a great visual jump from 1080p while having great performance compared to 4k. A great middle ground between 1080p and 4k

And 4k is for those that want the game to look as pretty as possible, but your performance will take a nosedive.

Im still gonna game at 1440p, because 4k eats up to much performance, and 1080p isn't that visually pleasing.

Rx6800 it's sucha a great peice to performance card, and seems like so many people forgot about it, currently on it and it eats all the latest games at 1440p without any problems

As a proud owner of a Ryzen 4070 it works for any resolution and should be bought everytime

Your advice distills it so nicely, and fits exactly to how me and my friend picked our cards; I went nVidia and he went AMD.

Lets be honest, its easier to say 2k than 1440p

2k Gaming was a thing back in my day. It wasn't just the resolution one could play at but also provided the necessary coding to make game run okay ish

the rx 7800 xt is only 2% slower in rt than the rtx 4070, theres no point on getting the 4070 for rt, especially that rt might require more vram

Amd’s new built in frame generation software makes their cards a much more attractive option since you can activate frame generation in any game that you want to regardless of whether it has fsr 3.0+ or not

I'm a big fan of story-driven games with awesome graphics and smooth gameplay. My RTX 4070 handles them like a champ!

My 5700xt still crushes at 1440p, there’s a lot of bargains to be had in the used market!

I run my GTX 1080 in 1440p and honestly runs solid. I know there's better and updated cards out there, but I'm genuinely impressed how it's held up to this day.

I picked up a used 3070 a while back, and it handles 1440p gaming really well. I'm good for a generation or two, and with the power issues on the 4k series, i think im ok with that.
