I'm still emulating games on Dolphin in 2k-4k with my GTX 1050ti. My monitor is 1080p/60hz BUT... my TV is 4k/120hz, and steam link runs like a dream. Steam link allows me to see that 4k image crystal clear with the 120fps actually becoming a usuable feuature with the screen being utilised by steam link

I rock the 4070 super with my 1080p 240hz monitor. It's a preference thing. I like getting that full 240 fps on ultra settings for all my shooters, at 24" the difference between 1080 and 1440, it's there but not easily noticed, especially when immersed in a game, and I figure games in the pipeline coming out in 5-6 years will still be able to hit 60, 90, 120 fps at 1080p on the 4070 super, but I'll have to drop settings to med or low to get those frames at 1440.

Great card either way and you can't go wrong at either res IMO

1440p is kinda problematic outside of gaming because it's not really multimedia standard. Movies, pictures and stuff are usually either 1080p or 4k so with 1440p it's gonna need down or upscaling which may be meh if someone is oversensitive to not pixel perfect lines, especially with 2d animation.

I’d personally prioritise refresh rate and color depth over resolution, but all three do provide a better picture, provided your hardware can support the peripheral.

the real answer depends on the type of monitor you have as well. In this case I would stay with 1080p at higher resfresh rates. Considering the 4070 super is only 12 GB of vram, 1440P at high settings is going to eat a lot more memory even at lower refresh rates
