1440P or 4K monitor for gaming? 🤔

-Graphics cards were actually affordable
-1440p/4K Monitors were affordable
-Modern games were properly optimized to run on today's hardware
(not requiring the use of DLSS/Frame Generation)

Still on 1080p with my 3070 Ti. Mostly because i simply cannot fit a 27 inch monitor in my setup.

Want my opinion? If 1080p was the standard for so long there’s a good reason as to why.
If anything, 1080p now at 800 dollars gives you literally ultra settings at 80+ fps on any game, if you pick the right parts.
I’d double down on a 1080p setup anytime

At 1440p you can get a higher refresh rate, but that doesn't matter when the budget ballers like me can only play 1440p at 10fps.

I personally run a 4k oled monitor that is 240Hz but when switched to duel mode goes up to 480Hz at 1080p and since I run a 4070S with a 7 7800X3D it has been working good for me so far

I do 4K because I like cinematic games a lot. Resident evil, red dead redemption, Grandtheft auto etc. right now I’m playing alone in the dark and it looks absolutely incredible.

1080p is fine at 24 inches. I have a 24.5-in monitor that's 240hz while i have a 3060 Ti. 1080p still looks perfect as long as your face isn't right up against the panel

I think we are getting close. For what I bought my 1080p 144hz monitor for 7 years ago could definitely buy a decent 1440p monitor now so I definitely think we are getting there. We just need to wait for gpu power to dollar ratio to come down.
