When I got my first 1440p monitor, I used an old 1080p monitor as my secondary. Now a couple years later I got the same monitor with a higher refresh rate and my monitor aesthetics are complete.

this is the play, a good high refresh 1440p or 4k monitor as main monitor, and a cheap 1080p monitor on the side, I couldn't imagine not having a cheap 2nd monitor

remember, switching to your secondary is faster than reloading

Edit - How do I have so many likes, this is the most I've ever had

Using little big mouse can fixed alot of these issues that come up when using different monitors and it will let adjust the all the monitors and make everything much smoother

I appreciate that you point out that its an easy question for experienced pc builders but not for a newbie. Thank you for realizing that not everyone comes out of their mother with all the answers. This is not common in the PC community

I love seeing everybody use the Firewatch backgrounds. It's easily one of my favorite games of all time, and although its popularity has faded, I always end up seeing a Firewatch wallpaper somewhere.

I have a 1080p main gaming monitor and a dell E153 768p 4:3 flat pannel lcd monitor as my secondary. Surprisingly its still quite usuable as a Secondary monitor

This is exactly what I do. When I first built my pc, I saved a bit of money and got myself a solid but still entry level 1080p panel. The pc I built was 100% a 1440p capable machine though, so after a while of saving up after the big investment on the of pc, I got myself a 1440p monitor and moved the 1080p panel to be my secondary.

Quick tip for dealing with the weird sizing issues with windows across different resolutions. If you have an nvidia gpu, you can manually change the resolution of your monitor. I have one 1080p and one 1440p monitor. In nvidia control panel, I set the 1080p monitor to 1440p, so that windows treats it as 1440p size. Works perfectly with no weird sizing issues.

I got the budget baller setup of a $70 (CAD) 1080p 75hz monitor that was on sale at a local electronics store and an old 4:3 office monitor that was $20 at a thrift store. I needed a display port to dvi cable to get it to work on my pc which was like $13. A total of about $100 so two monitors for the price of one. Not bad!

Wherever that pan shot of the setup with Spotify open and listening to Two Way Mirror by Loathe came from, you’ve got great taste

Windows being wonky is simply the quirk that for monitors is impossible to scale correctly different resolutions with the same physical panel sizes. If you have a 1440p monitor as main then the 1080p monitor should be slightly smaller to accommodate the pixel alignment.

I remember going from a cheap 1080p 60hz monitor, then upgrading to a $300 curved 144hz 1440p VA monitor and using the 1080p as my secondary. Eventually a upgraded to a much nicer 1440p 180hz IPS panel, using the older 1440p as a secondary, and the 1080p as a vertical for discord and such. Love this config

And then there's me having a 1080p 60hz 40 inch LG TV from 2011 as the secondary display and an Acer 24 inch 165hz 1080p monitor as the main display

Easy fix with the moving across windows, just change the resolution in advanced settings so the 1080p screen thinks its 1440p. Doesnt make it look better or worse but solves the issue in the video
