My personal opinion: Learning songs is more effective way to improve, especially when you learn by ear. Why? At the same time you train your ears to hear and find right notes, you learn different techniques when playing songs through, you build your stamina and mind, ears, fretting and picking hands work together. Of course learning theory help you understand scales and modes etc. and theory helps you find song key and right notes almost right away. And when playing songs through there are many different techniques used and I find that simple as this sounds it is. You can practise and learn songs just for fun but understanding separate techniques and why they are used in the song makes whole new world. Example: there is song what combines tapping, alternate picking and let's say string skipping techniques. Why there is used just these certain techniques? To create specific sound from guitar. So when you learn a song, know what techniques you are using and why are you using. And when you play songs instead of let's say 5mins practising sweeping, it is same thing as playing live. Or do you start doing exercises when playing live? No, I don't think so. So the point of learning and playing songs is same thing as playing live, playing the song through instead just playing one part over and over again. Everything is simple when you understand what's the point of doing this and that and why are you doing this and that:)

Timing IS King.
I believe that to be true in all genres, probably ... as it is in Life.
That said, it is also about momentum (energy in motion).
For, when lacking on either, it fails.

I am getting better at speed, but I definatly don't agree that it's easy to improve speed, there are some songs that I have practiced for years and still can't play on original speed 😅

I'm not gonna lie I like grindcore alot and I love death metal and just the various metal genres but it if I can learn to just play rhythm fast like brutal truth or discordance axis I will be just as happy. I'm wondering if there are lessons I can learn about as in do you have a website that I can research lessons.
