What I discovered about anxiety is groundbreaking. At the heart of all anxiety is a desperate need to CONTROL. What I mean is behind any anxious thought there is a need to control other people's thoughts, reactions, actions etc. To further explain by an example, say someone is anxious about a certain situation, in their mind there is this game going on where the outcome is to be determined by the anxious person. The only way out of this game is to release control of the what the outcome should be. The anxious person will say "ok I will give up control or give up my projections, but what about controlling my own side of the thought game". Well as I discovered the minute you give up your projections and allow external situations(people, events etc) to determine their own outcomes, immediately your own mind starts to rest. Give up control!!!!

This is so true! Whenever an anxiety hit me I used to say 'God is with me' while breathing mindfully. It was the only weapon I had against the spiritual war I had with myself.

Waking up feeling panicky for a long time until I started my day with deep breathing saying to myself "Come holy Spirit" over and over. It was an amazing transformation in my life.

For years I thought I had ADHD. I don't go around saying I'm self diagnosed, but it was always a concern I had. Recently, I've been having blood pressure and heart problems, not great for a 19 year old. Turns out, I have chronic stress. For the past few months I've been living in constant stress due to family issues and general life stuff to the point where almost every second I was stressed. I followed her steps to calm down, and the relaxation hit me like a truck. I hadn't felt like this in months. Finally my mind was quiet, my heart was calm, and my muscles were relaxed. I'm really glad I found this vid

This is an amazing TED talk. I love when physicians empower their patients to take their own health into their hands.

I have chronic illness. My anxiety is so bad that I can't even leave the house anymore. 😫 I have prayed and called out to God to help me. I know our loving God will help. I just want to be happy again.

My husband passed away in 2009 at age 45, it was my birthday. I have relived that day so many times since then. I don’t know how to turn it off. I often think how much would be different in my life had the love of my life not died that day. It is so hard. I really need this as I am getting older and have horrible insomnia and anxiety.

I took deep breath while listening this speech on earphones. Almost felt like meditation. I suffered chronic stress from few months now my mind is completely calm because of single speech. Just imagine how 10 minutes BMW meditation will improve brain and body health.
🙏 Thanks Ma'am. OM Shanti 😌

From the moment we wake up to the minute we go to bed, we're bombarded with impressions and notifications. Don't forget to turn everything off a couple of minutes per day and allow yourself to let your thoughts come from the inside as opposed to them being reactions to the outside.

after watching this, i laid under some blankets (it’s v drafty up in here) with my eyes closed and silently said “forgive” with each long exhale. i’m thankful i didn’t fall asleep, because i can’t even describe how that ten minutes just actually helped me as a person that has been quietly plagued with anxiety her entire life.

Useful video. In life there are only 2 problems--mind and the body. Be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15-20 minutes or more. You can sit or lay down anywhere-anytime. No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. With practice the mind will relax. Keep a reminder to observe your breath sensations throughout the day and night at home, at work, when travelling etc with eyes open or closed. One more tip is to sit on a chair without moving, be still and observe your breath. Stillness reduces thoughts and brings relief. Like me make this a lifetime habit to have a better life. Best wishes--Counsellor.
