It’s because Davinci 17 & 18 free version have enabled GPU hardware encoding for h265 only. H.264 still relies only on the CPU. So using h.265 you are benefiting from having a dedicated graphics card sharing the workload.

resolves export option for highly compressed files actually sucks. you need to export to DNX then run it through handbrake.

I dont understand when i use h264 it take for 1min exec 1min, when i use 265 as u i have 1, 5min for 1min of movie

Indeed, my CPU is at 96%, Intel Graphics at 5%, and NVidia at literally 0% with H264.

I don't know Davinci resolve that well, but it seems like there should be an option on the h264 encoding settings for gpu encoding. It depends on what gpu you are using tho.

It really can't be just magic that your video's suddenly use gpu encoding in h265. Nvenc encoding (which I expect you to use) always results in lower video quality in general. X265 seems (from what I can read online) to still be superior in both compression efficiency and image quality.

But your gpu also has h264 encoders so it seems weird to me that you aren't able to use them. It may has to do with the exact bitrate settings you are decoding. But in general encoding h264 is always going to be faster than h265, if you compare apples to apples at least.
