Davinci Resolve 'Media Offline' Error iPhone HEVC Video FREE Fix - Handbrake Convert H.264

This is a quick video fix for importing iPhone HEVC video into Davinci Resolve for free without having to pay for the HEVC codec which is not included in Davinci Resolve 17 free version. The quickest way is to simply buy the HEVC codec. In the video I show you how to use Handbrake to convert individual clips from HEVC ro H.264.

Super useful, thanks! Most of the other troubleshooting videos on the "media offline" error for iphone content was actually focused on file location in the paid version rather than the codec in the free version, nice to know why the file didn't work.

it doesn't fix the issue... i still have to re-edit. So lame that DaVinci doesn't readily accept H.264/5 from the single most popular mobile phone/cam format on the effing planet.

Vital question

I used to transfer videos by phone cable from iphone to PC, the video displayed on PC would be double the size on iphone (which is good and expected), the codec of the vid shows H.264 on PC and the quality is just good and natural.

Now when I transfer the very same video, from the same iphone to the very same PC (even to other PCs) via the same cable, the video file size is half, requires HEVC codec to play and when i downloaded hevc and okayed the video, visual quality is just bad ; bitrate is cut in half, fand file size is half than the previous copy that I had trabsferred many months ago.

Also, the good quality copy that shows H.264 on PC, now shows HEVC on the iphone

I only have this issue with videos now, not with pics. Inever had had it with videos before.

Would you happen to know where this might come from and how to remeditae?

(Full disclosure: dropbox and icloud don't help as they export the file from phone as compressed;
converting codecs doesn't do anything neither;
And "keep originals" option doesn't matter at all)

My media is in the proper location, properly linked, and everything, but it flashes "media offline" every couple frames which makes it so I can't export. Unsure how to fix, any ideas?

Hi, I bough the codec from the Microsoft Store and the problem still appear? Do you know why?

edit: If you installed the codec and still got the media offline appearing, just drag the video on the timeline and go to the export tab and select the codec to h265 and it should work now :D

when i install handbrake it says i need the .net framework, and when i download it, it still keeps giving me that error message.I have already downloaded ALL versions and it still doesn't work.How can i solve this?

When I use handbrake, it works and I’m able to import in resolve but when I check my clip attributes, resolve is changing the frame rate. So if I shoot in 4k 60fps on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, it will say in clip attributes custom frame rate of 22. And if I try to change it back to 60fps it says media offline. Can someone please help me??

Thanks but I'm using the full version of Davinci and it still doesn't work with HEVC. The paid upgrade has been disappointing to say the least.
