Thanks @kavemanaquatics - just set up an aquarium 3 weeks backs. 1st week i was putting stability and prime on an empty tank and then introduced my fish (8 little Kois for 240L aquarium) 2 weeks ago. First 10 days ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings were roughly 0ppm. Now suddenly i have ammonia spike around 1ppm, while nitrite and nitrate are still low. Isn't that weird? I am using API test kit just as the one u did a video on.

Why don’t people use fish-in cycling more if they can just use Prime? You almost never see posts that promote this yet most of the LFS’s and pros I talk to use this method. I did this method on my first tank and had success. Thanks for your easy to understand, and to the point videos.

Can you add the prime & stability with the fish in the water? How often should you do this?

I just figured that out today. Im for the first time ever I got elevated nitrate and nitrites reading on my master kit..Every time I would ask a fish/aquarium shop employees what I should do about my ammonia spike- I would be told to add an ammonia neutralizer and do many water changes. I would always get an ammonia spike after a maintenance water change/clean up. I didn’t quite understand what cycling meant- and I didn’t want to see my fish suffer or die or get stressed from constant water changes. it is starting to make so much sense after watching your videos. Thank you!

❤👆🙏🫶🏻🐡 I needed this!! My very overstocked 20 gal long planted dirt and sand cap tank started out as an 8 guppy’s & 3 mystery snails and now su can’t even count how many of either I have. I’ve been painstakingly taking out all Female Guppy’s and adding them to a 55 gal tank I was planning on using later on and I’ve removed snails an put in a 40 gal breeder I wanted for my dream black water betta sorority paludarium..😢I’ve been up until 4 am 3 nights in a row doing water changes only to find my atank looking cloudy with an ammonia has spike again ! I will follow your seachem prime and stability instructions and hopefully I’ll get through this with little to no casualties. These are some hardy fish but I don’t want them to suffer.

Hi I just started my new tank yesterday I have 3 green spotted puffers in brackish water. Already started with Prime & Stability.
My question is do I stop using the Prime & Stability after 7 days?

Hey Kev, how big a spike are we talking safe? Following your steps to a T, but switched to fluval stratum and driftwood on day 12 of my cycle which caused my ammonia to go to 3-4ppm. All other levels ok.. still safe to not change it and just keep dosing with prime and stability? Thanks so much!

I have 0.25ppm ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10-20ppm nitrates. What should I be doing to bump the ammonia down since the other two parameters are good? Thought the tank was cycled before I added the fish, but now I have ammonia. 😩

Today I lost one disucss fish to ammonia. It spiked overnight and when I woke up in the morning I found one fish dead and rest all struggling. It broke my heart. The fish was medium sized Red Melon Discuss who was with me since 2017. What are the ways that to avoid this catastrophe in future?
