Elisabeth Sauer "deserved better" from the locals when she needed help the most. What an amazing "fighting spirit" she possessed. May God bless & comfort her family and "be proud of her fight."

This is God's truth. Years before the movie Jaws in the late 60's we would go to Dayton beach and spend all day on those short rental rafts in water over our heads, riding the rafts and body surfing. I can remember standing occasionally at the surf's edge with the lifeguards closing the beach to swimmers because there were sharks in the shallows. I can remember standing there at the surf's edge watching their fins go around and around, thrashing back and forth and my only emotion was being pissed off because I couldn't get into the water. Never for a half a nano-second did it cross my mind that I would ever be bitten by a shark. After maybe after 30 min to an hour after the shark fins were no longer sighted, we'd all be back in the water past the breakers just happy as clams that we could get back out in the water. When I saw the opening scenes from Jaws, around the mid-seventies, I suddenly remember being in the water for hours, I almost passed out and have never felt comfortable in salt water since.

Every time you put a foot in the water you become a part of the food chain: is this too difficult to understand???

Yes the scenery is beautiful. Even if there be measures to the ocean it is the home to these sharks 🦈 entering. So anyone taking a chance it's their own risk.

I’ve got to say, I’m 51 and I never have and never would swim in the ocean, but that poor woman she needed HELP!! Everyone was taping her on their phones? How sickening is that?😤😭

I think the two worst shark attacks I've seen, is the poor Russian guy who was eaten by a tiger shark in Egypt, and the female tourist who was on a chartered cruise, and her leg was bitten off, while off shore by an oceanic white.

It seems that premature death usually finds the kindest and least deserving victims. God bless Mr B and all the others taken way too soon. May they find safe passage to Heaven.

It’s simple, you don’t want to get attacked by a shark? Don’t go into the ocean.

I'm not a scientist, but I believe if a shark is hungry, it will attack and eat a human! They don't mistake a person for a seal!

After jaws came out, I started researching sharks some. After what I learned, I wouldn't even wade out waist deep to cast surf fishing. I found out those damn bull sharks would hit people in 2 or 3 feet deep water and drag them in

I heard this story before. But, I never heard that she was recovered by a boat. I heard that the shark took her, and the husband was so grateful that her friend was with her, as he never would have known what would have happened to her, as she swam every morning by herself for years. They also said that it was only one shark and that it was in predation mode as a dead whale was further out in the ocean near where they were swimming. Sad.

Certainly a shark bite and a crociidile bite are distinguishable

If anyone believes there’s only been 95 shark attacks in Mexico in the last 400 years than they are high risk for getting eaten on their next carefree vacation down there. Mexico is probably a close second to Brazil when it comes to covering up shark attacks. My friend was paid a free vacation to stay quiet after his attack. The press, hospitals and the locals know better to stay quiet. Those countries survive on tourism so will cover it up at any cost. I’d say the locals talking would be punishable by getting framed for a crime and sent to prison or worse- death. If the number was in the thousands, it would be more believable but the hundreds of thousands of coast line miles seeing 1 shark attack every 4 years is total lies. Anyone can see through that one. I’ve been on beaches the same days of 3 separate Mexican shark attacks in the past 10 years. Pretty crazy how coincidental that would be right? 😂 stay safe folks. Don’t believe the stats

In the first story, I am glad they called off the hunt for the shark. It's not the sharks fault. They're just doing what they do. Sorry for the victims but when you swim with apex predators, sometimes bad things happen

She went past the reefs into the sharks breeding grounds, did not follow all the rules!
