Went swimming at ocean isle beach one year and something bumped into my leg. I was up to my neck in the water couldn’t feel the bottom and whatever it was felt solid. Later that day there was a huge shark spotted in that exact area and I just haven’t felt the urge to get back into the ocean since then 🤣

I used to live in both Gulf Shores and nearby Orange Beach. I knew someone who was attacked in ankle-deep water. There are many, many attacks that never make it on the news

It is amazing that there aren't many more shark attacks everywhere. So many ppl enter the sea & show no caution at all.

I was nearly eaten by a big tiger shark when I was 16 it snuck up on me while snorkelling, I was on the bottom looking at coral in about 3m of water I needed to come up for air and it was right in front me coming head first and turned when I made eye contact the force of it turning pushed me in the water very scary never been in water since I’m nearly 40

I spent my summers swimming in the Atlantic without a care in the world, until I saw Jaws. That was it for me.

Newsflash!!!! Sharks live in the ocean. If you go in the ocean with them, they may bite you. You can use same logic for Bears in the woods, snakes in the desert……..etc. hope this helps.

To avoid being attacked by sharks, don’t go to the beach at dawn or get out of the water by evening, these are the time when sharks prey on fish. Surfing is tempting at these time period so surf at your own risk.

who gets attacked by a bull shark and then returns back to the exact same location and runs back in to the sea up past your head with NO SHARK PROTECTION? A fool. 👀

I’ll stick with swimming pools, thank you! I still love sharks but will leave them to their own habitat. 🦈💕

It is my experience that the best time for people to go swimming, surfing or partake in any other type of water sport is in the early morning or at dusk. Also, you do not want to swim in gin clear water and it’s preferable that there is limited visibility, and try to create as much “splashing” and erratic movement as possible. Thank you for your time and reading this post, and I hope it helps.

Evidence shows that the worst time to get into the ocean is before and after a storm and at dusk and night. But after all that I have learned, there's no good time for getting into the ocean!

I was in thigh high water and splashing to attract dolphins that were off in the distance. A shark circled me and breached right along side of me. I snapped a picture and got the fin. I never ever went back into the ocean. I thought I was safe in such shallow water.

Dr. Dan is so cool. I love the way he breaks this down intelligently yet understandable to a non doctors.

I was out fishing with my dad, deep sea fishing, and I was sitting on the bow dangling my feet in the water with a drop line between my legs. Unknown to me my dad had been hanging the catch over the side.
I am enjoying myself and I hear my dad yell for me to get my feet out of the water there are sharks I look down and there is a big ole shark right there. if he had bitten he would have got me believe me I moved as fast as I could.
I wish I knew what kind it was he was probably 6 or 7 ft with what I refer to as a Mackrel-colored back. It scared me. They actually had a feeding frenzy on the fish it was wild and very scary.

I lived in Gulf Shores for 10 years and caught a 5ft bull shark 🦈 in the canal between GS and Orange Beach! I used to swim in the Gulf but not since I was bumped into by a large unidentified shark! It used to be a hidden paradise now everyone comes here for vacation in the Summer and the beaches are filled with food for the sharks! Still odd that Dolphin Island and Orange Beach doesn’t have near as many shark attacks!

As a reminder: Every time you enter into the ocean you become part of the food chain…..
