Hi lovelies, do you want to know how to make super soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls every single time? 😏 I am ready to share my secret with you today as I am sharing my homemade cinnamon rolls recipe. I have been testing out so many cinnamon roll recipes and I just never could find that one recipe that would have made me feel like it was the one. So I made quite a bunch of cinnamon rolls, testing different variations of ingredients and different methods.. RECIPE:
For the Dough:
450g flour + extra as needed
50g sugar
25g fresh yeast (believe me it is worth it using fresh yeast :))
250ml warm milk (about 35°C) (I usually just test with a hand that it is warm to touch but not hot)
160g natural yogurt (I used 10% fat)
75g soft butter
For the Cinnamon Butter:
150g softened butter
100g sugar
5tsp cinnamon
For the Egg Wash:
1 egg
1 tbsp milk
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
175g cream cheese (I used Philadelphia Yoghurt or Greek Style)
175g powder sugar
I baked my cinnamon rolls in an oven tray from ikea which is 24cmx34cmx5.5cm. I also used parchment paper to ease the cleaning later.
Bake at 175 C in the middle shelf of the oven for 35-40 minutes.
Preparation instructions in the video.
TIPS:
1.With this recipe you really dont want to be in a rush, but you want to prove the dough every time for the suggested time. 1 hour once making the dough and 1 hour once proving the cinnamon rolls in the baking tray. That way you get the best possible result.
2. If it is cold in your apartment, turn on the oven on the lowest possible (for mine it is 50°C), then turn it off and let the dough prove in the oven, in an ovenproof bowl.
3. If you cannot make your cinnamon rolls just before you are going to serve them, dont cover them with the frosting but leave them aside covered with a clean kitchen towel. Then you can warm them up again shortly, 30 sec on full power in microwave or for maximum 5 minutes in a preaheated oven (never done this but 150°C degrees should be enough) and only then cover with the frosting.
