GOOEY CINNAMON ROLLS: CINNABON COPYCAT RECIPE
Before I had this homemade cinnamon rolls recipe, I was addicted to Cinnabon cinnamon rolls. They were large, soft, and gooey. I’m all about the gooey. I searched and searched (mostly recipe books because recipe websites were not a huge thing back then) and finally found a key idea. Add heavy cream to the cinnamon buns before baking. THIS is the secret ingredient and what makes the rolls rich and gooey. Cinnabon copycat recipe? That’s not what I was going for, but I think we pretty much got it.
Here’s how you do it. After the cinnamon rolls are rolled into their pretty swirls and you’ve allowed them to rise in the pan…right before they are ready to bake, warm heavy cream in a small bowl. Why warm the cream? Because your rolls have risen in warmth and you don’t want to add refrigerator-cold cream to your cinnamon rolls. Adding warm (not hot!) heavy cream will keep the rolls rising as they should during baking. Pour the heavy cream overtop all of the rolls and watch that rich cream soak in and around the cinnamon roll dough.
Can you make the cinnamon rolls without heavy cream? Yes. Will they be good? Yes. Will they be as gooey? No. I find that the heavy cream helps the filling of the cinnamon rolls to be smoother and not as grainy. So just try it, K?

Yesterday I spent the entire day searching for a good cinnamon roll recipe until i decided to try out yours. I made the rolls today and OH MY GOD THEY ARE SO INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS!! words cannot describe it properly how good they are! my whole family loved them! I've been sceptical of trying out cinnamon rolls mainly coz it looked like too much work but what else to do in lockdown? 😅
Recipe review- PERFECT! Everything from the dough to the filling to the glaze. Bang on!

This has been my go-to recipe for the past few years. It's never let me down! The cream before baking is an absolute game changer!
I don't have a stand mixer, so I always knead by hand. It's such a pain but it's beyond worth it!

The best cinnamon roll recipe on the internet, hands down. The heavy cream makes such a huge difference. Other recipes I've tried without it turn out dry. Made it several times and it's always fantastic.

Hands down this is the best cinnamon recipe I have ever done. I tried many recipes this is the only one that was really soft, and gooey. I recommend that you guys should try making them, I promise you wont regret.

These are the best cinnamon rolls I have ever ate. I have ate the ones you buy in the store and have never liked them but now I love cinnamon rolls, well these anyway. I have never made them before I made these. I was scared to death, just knew I would mess it up. I used my bread maker to knead the dough and it was so easy. I can't tell you how much I appreciate finding this recipe. I gave some to my mother who is 90 years old and she loved them. They are so yummy!
You made 2 ladies so very happy. I put them in the freezer and take one out when I want one. So amazing!

This was the first yeasted dough I had ever made AND I was running on no sleep and they still came out perfect. It basically saved mother's day because I hadn't been able to buy any gifts because of quarantine. They were so good that my dad requested them for father's day too! Thanks for the great recipe <3

I have been making cinnamon rolls for years and have had a Cinnabon copycat recipe that is to die for. I recently was taking care of a dear friend's acreage and was craving cinnamon buns. At the time, I was disappointed I didn't have my "Go to" recipe with me & so I had to look on-line for another copycat recipe. I was actually looking to find my go to recipe when I came across this one. The 4.9 * rating with thousands of reviews caught my eye. I will have to admit, the tag line about a "Secret ingredient" had me rolling my eyes. Well Julie, I owe you an apology!! You certainly were NOT lying or misleading me with a secret ingredient! The addition of the heavy cream just before baking absolutely brought these rolls to the next level!! So much so, I thought I had actually died and gone to heaven. Just made this now, out of the oven. Mine took double the time to rise, my house is a bit cold. Left mine in the oven for 20 min. They look great. I tried another recipe that I kneaded by hand, forget that! My Kitchen Aid did a excellent job, and the dough was so easy to work with/ Since I have a granite countertop, I though it might be too cold, so I rolled the dough out on a cloth. I added raisins right before I rolled it up and added maple since I like it. I never had a Cinnabon before so love this!

Ok, ..So I have spent atleast the better part of an hour looking for a Cinnamon Roll to make today. I am a true lover of THE CINNAMON ROLL….I get cravings for a cinnamon roll and there is no way to improvise, .for me anyway. I have set all my ingredients out and letting my eggs and butter warm up.😁I will be back to let you know how they turn out—I am so excited to make these for my family. UPDATE: Ok, So I made these Cinnamon rolls and they turned out phenomenal!!!! My husband came in right as I was drizzling the glaze and his eyes 👀 were popping out of his head.🤣 Now I’m supposed to make a batch for him to take to work. 😁 Thank you so much Julie for sharing this incredible recipe and the tutorial also.
