Bankart Repair | Improving Shoulder Girdle Strength | Part 7
Показать описание
Here is a patient who underwent rotator cuff (supraspinatus) and Bankart lesion repair 9 months ago. Prior to working out, she performs exercises for shoulder girdle mobility and stability.
The first two exercises involve the Indian / Persian clubs. She starts with the lateral raise and transitions to the serratus stop. The goal of these exercises to improve glenohumeral / scapulothoracic mobility and stability. Early in the rehab process, when she was cleared for lifting (12 weeks post-operative), these movements were crucial for re-learning the correct motor pattern for the arm.
The last exercise involves the mace. The overhead raise with a step-back lunge is the first movement. Next, while maintain a lunge position, overhead pressing is performed. Controlling frontal plane motion (lumbar lateral flexion) occurs while moving the mace up and down. The goal is to stay upright and not let the pelvis or shoulders drop.
Coaching proper performance for theses exercises focuses on
✅ Neutral spine
✅ Breathing diaphragmatically
✅ Proper movement pattern
✅ Controlled movement
Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based not time-based.

Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. STOP exercising if you experience any symptoms of weakness, unsteadiness, light-headedness / dizziness, chest pain or pressure, nausea, or shortness of breath.
Performing these exercises should not cause pain. If you experience pain while exercising, decrease the speed of your movement. If the pain persists - STOP. Mild soreness after exercising may be experienced after beginning a new exercise.
