Bankart Repair | Improving Shoulder Girdle Strength | Part 5
Показать описание
Here is a patient who underwent rotator cuff (supraspinatus) and Bankart lesion repair 5 months ago.
Her strength continues to improve every week. There are strength and range of motion deficits based on post-operative restrictions to protect the integrity of the repairs. Lifting with resistance is not recommended for 12 weeks.
Two levels of dynamic pulling (pulling) movements are shown progressing from easiest to hardest. Level one is in tall sitting and level two tall kneeling.
The pulling motion originates from the shoulder blades (scapulae). The lower trapezii and middle trapezii are the prime movers.
The progressions increase the demand for dynamic posture stability and control. "Limits of Stability (LoS) are defined as the points at which the center of gravity (CoG) approach's the limits of the base of support (BoS) and a correction strategy is required to return the center of mass (CoM) to within the BoS.” - F. Huo.
Always perform the pulling movement with the spine in neutral. Emphasis is placed on proper breathing and controlled movement.
✅ Neutral spine
✅ Breathing diaphragmatically
✅ Controlled movement
Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based not time-based.

Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. STOP exercising if you experience any symptoms of weakness, unsteadiness, light-headedness / dizziness, chest pain or pressure, nausea, or shortness of breath.
Performing these exercises should not cause pain. If you experience pain while exercising, decrease the speed of your movement. If the pain persists - STOP. Mild soreness after exercising may be experienced after beginning a new exercise.
