Heard of Amniotomy or Artificial Rupture of Membranes ?

Artificially breaking your water is said to help speed up labor by increasing contractions, check if the baby has passed meconium and can also help your Dr monitor the baby’s heart rate more accurately.

However, it’s important to note that not all women need to have their water broken during labor during childbirth.

If your Dr decides that breaking your water is necessary, they will first perform a cervical exam to ensure that the cervix is dilated enough and the baby is in the right position pressed onto to the cervix. Then they will use the amnihook to make a small hole in the amniotic sac, which allows the fluid to escape. You may feel a small gush of warm fluid, but it should not be painful.

After your water is broken, your contractions may become stronger and more intense, and your labor may progress more quickly.

There is also a slightly higher risk of infection once your water is broken.

As with any medical procedure, it is always recommend discussing the risks and benefits of Amniotomy with your provider so you can make an informed decision based on your individual circumstances.

On august 15 2023 same process happened to me.. My labor progressed all of a sudden. Water breaked at 10:05 pm. Ma baby boy (my 1st baby) born at 10:31 pm.❤️❤️. What a blessed moment cany express my happiness through words. At that moment i think about my mother❤️❤️❤️

Water broke at home for my first child around 6:40 am and my son was born in the car before reaching the hospital. Reached the hospital and a nurse cut his umbilical cord at 7:20 am and kept him at their care for observation. They only gave him to me in the afternoon. He is now 35 years old married.

Same procedure was done to me for my second delivery. My little princess came out to this world safely at my first push. It is 18th day for my baby. 😀

Mera normal hote hote reh gaya ... waterbreak hone par dr. Ne labour induce nahi kiya...pura water Jane diya then labour inj./ Med. Induce kiye....😢after 15 hours of labour... Baby ki heartbeat low hote gai...or fir csec kr Diya ....sab kehte hai csec easy guys ab ap log kya kehna chahonge maine to dono situations face ki hai so kisi bhi mother ki capacity pr mat jana ...koi delivery easy nahi hoti😢

I was under tis procedure for my second delivery yes it helped a lot for normal delivery...

Unfortunately due to water leakage on my first pregnancy, tried to pushy baby boy but his head got stucked, lot of water already came out but not baby, doctor tried all way, again they pushed back the baby and made c-section, after 5years now second baby going to arrive on October but not sure again water leakage happens or what before delivery date😢

It is a prenatal diagnostic test and the benefit is to detect that the baby has any chromosomal disorders that may affected from the genetics. with the help of the amniotic fluid which contains embryo cells. the risk are if the amniocentesis needle is harmed the baby there may be higher possibilities of miscarriage so the experts are always allowed to be done this amniocentesis test.
