How to play an F Barre chord | Weird quick tip that works!

Here is Mark, a student of mine, giving some feedback on how he personally resolved any issues he was having with the F barre chord. It is much easier to place your first finger so that the creases on your finger are not on the thinnest two strings. But also, positioning your finger higher can also keep the 3 weaker fingers on their tips- a common issue!

Barre chords can be difficult, but once you've got the technique, you're there. The tip I normally use is when getting the chord in place, is using the side of my finger (in all string barre chords- E major or minor derived) over the "by the book" rule of positioning your index finger flat (which I tend to use for 5 string barres- A major or minor derived), creating a "makeshift" capo, to get the strings to ring out successfully. But whatever floats your boat.

For me it works the other way. I personally like to play the 5th and 6th string with my thumb and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th string with my index-finger.
