Do you want to take your English from advanced to fluent? In this lesson, I will give you English vocabulary words and the correct context they should be used in. I am explaining the difference between formal and informal English vocabulary.

Why is this important? When learning a new language you can sound incredibly awkward to others if you use too formal or too informal English.
I will say, for the most part, American English speakers are incredibly casual, so in this English lesson I will give you tips to sound more casual so you don't end up using too formal English. If you want to take your English to the next level this video lesson will help!

0:00 Intro
0:43 Beat up vs. assaulted
1:56 show vs. demonstrate it
2:38 that's okay vs. that's acceptable
3:45 falling out vs. disagreement
4:31 stopped vs. ceased
5:19 worse vs. inferior
6:05 job vs. occupation
6:48 put up with vs. tolerate it

Practice speaking in conversation with me and learn some great new natural English phrases

Great video. Your speech is very clear and you seem prepared. But I spotted a typo in the first example, in the word assaulted the letter "a" is missing. This was your first video I've watched and I'm willing to watch many more. Keep your good job!

Terrific video! Thanks for teaching us the differences between some informal vs formal words. I remember that I recently asked you in the Tuesday Q and A if there was a difference between advanced speakers and fluent speakers and you mentioned it at the beginning of this video!

I have never heard about the terms "beat up" and "a falling out". I'll definitely add it to my vocabulary list.

Thanks again, I learned a lot! 😄
