English can be formal, semi formal or informal. Depending on the situation, you can use one of these registers. There is no better or worse. If you are hanging out with friends, you use informal English. When talking to your professor or giving a lecture at university, you use Formal English.

Imagine words are like clothes. Just like you wear different outfits for different occasions, we use different words for different situations. Formal words are like fancy clothes you wear to important events, like a wedding or a special party. They make you sound polite and respectful. Informal words are like your comfy everyday clothes that you wear when you're playing with friends or hanging out at home. They're more relaxed and casual. So, just like you choose the right outfit for each occasion, you choose the right words – formal or informal – to match the situation you're in!

In this lesson, you will learn some formal and informal words in English to improve your English vocabulary and knowledge!

I am French and all I can see is that all these formal words are French words And it is funny because these words are informal in French (not slang). Many thanks for your classes Maddy 🙏🏼💕🌷
