Formal vs informal English: Greetings and responses.  Everyone knows how to say "Hello" but there is so much more to greeting someone in English, and with so many variations and differences between formal vs informal English greetings it can be very easy to give the wrong impression and even appear rude.

GREAT lesson. I’m also an English teacher and agree that understanding formality definitely makes someone’s English sound more natural 👍🏼.

I'm a novice in the teaching business. I need to make a live presentation for two hours every week on different topics, starting with formal and informal greetings. Although the greetings would be spoken in English, my explanations will be in Thai for the general public. Your video is a good starting point..thnx... By the way, I teach in a vocational training school, funded by the local city administration.

Hi Anna. Thanks for sharing this lesson with us. It's been a refreshing one :-)
I usually prefer to use formal greetings because they fit my personality. I use informal greetings as well but not too often.
