Pixel 9 Pro Fold: The Real Deal?!

This is my first look at the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and while I don't think it's a Pro phone, it's nice and has some definite improvements over last year's Google Pixel Fold. However, Google should have definitely put better cameras in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and not reused last year's cameras!

As an owner of the Samsung Z fold 6, and now a Pixel 9 pro fold, I will say I'm LESS compelled to open the phone as often as I was with the z fold. The bigger outward display is a game changer for me. Now I feel like I LITERALLY have a full phone, that transforms into a full tablet.

The full tablet size specs, currently start at 8 inches, with most brands. So this device literally gives you a full, complete tablet when it's open, and full complete screen phone on the front screen. I haven't had time to play around with many of the pixel specific features that made me get it despite having the z fold 6, and I'm already in love with it. This will likely increase as I get time to play around with it, more in depth.

I'm enjoying my P9PF immensely. I get that iPhone-like feel of simple Pixel Android along with the deep integration with my productivity workflow. I'm not a gamer. I am not a camera shooter outside my own big camera. I don't watch a ton of videos. The Fold is great for these things.

I was just about to order it when I realized it made more sense for me to get the 9 Pro XL. The selfie camera and video has been dramatically improved on the 9PXL. On the Android side cameras are my priority.

Why is everyone too focused on a camera like every customer is a photographer. The cameras are pretty good for most peoples needs . If u don't like it, don't buy it . That will solve most people's issues . Other foldables are also available, so we all have choices to suit our needs and our pockets 😊

Yep they should've kept the same form factor and improved on it. Not everyone want a large ass phone. Having close to a 16:9 ratio phone again was pretty nice. I will still be holding on to my OG Pixel.

I received mine yesterday surprisingly. It was originally set to be delivered in Oct😅. So far it's pretty good not quite 24 hours in. I haven't even opened the display because the main display is good

I got mine yesterday and I'm enjoying it!! The full screen experimental feature is def wonky but I can deal with it. Outer display is big enough for those apps anyway that are unusable on main display.

I ended with all three of the Pixel Pro phones. Wife has XL and I have the Pro and Fold. I likely will only carry the Fold daily. Only switch to Pro (IP68) for adventures where the Fold (IPx8) can be a bit more at risk of damage. Once you have the Fold (do a trade in to help on price) You will only want to use the Fold. I did not know how much I would prefer the smaller phone, but also an option to open for a small tablet. Get one if the price gets within reach.

I wholeheartedly agree with Googles claims that it has the best cameras of any folding phone. Compared my Pixel 9 Pro fold with my mates Galaxy Fold 6, and there’s certainly a difference with both of us in favour of the Pixel’s photos. Being thinner and wider makes that outer screen more usable and not needing to open as often. Though I do prefer the narrow form factor of the Galaxy Fold for single handed use.

I think tablet foldables are awesome are where they should be absolutely not there is room for improvement on ALL tablet style foldables and paying Porsche, Lamborghini or Ferrari type money for something thats not bad aka just okay is crazy to me. Regular premium phones are already crazy enough and for the most part pretty darn good and live up to the hype honestly. But I'm glad that these big tech conglomerates are take stabbs at them and pushing or at least trying to push the boundaries. Tolles Video wie immer 😊

The back cameras look like Two iPhone 7+ camera setups. It’s not the worst thing in the world, I loved the iPhone 7+.

Next year with the G5, I believe it will be using a 3nm design which should at the very least make efficiency improvements but yeah from a raw horsepower aspect, I think Google will still play things pretty conservatively and not try to compete with Apple and Qualcomm for outright performance and continue to focus their efforts on maximizing Gemini tasks, sadly.
