All those times I could have finished the Witcher DLC or actually launch a rocket in Factorio. No. I'll spend six hours on one of my rare long gaming opportunities working on an automatic transmission. But one of the truly inspiring things about stormworks is you can take a break from your truck, and just go try to build a submarine...that turns into a truck (if you are so inclined).

I have to agree with everything you said. Stormworks is definetely a game that has a steep learning curve, but the end payoff in building something, is, I think, what makes this game so special. You could spend hours playing Red Dead Redemption, or GTA, and then beat the game with nothing to really show for it, but in Stormworks, if you spend hours building, the end goal is something *you* built, that is functional, and that in of itself, is rewarding enough to keep making me want to play the game, I just have to remember to pace myself lmao. I started building a research ship almost a year ago, now, and I thought initially it would be an easy project to familiarize myself with the game, and, well, I was half right. I know the game pretty well now, because I'm trying to incorporate lots of stuff, and it certainly has given me a basic understanding of most stuff in the game, but almost a year later and it's still not finished, but the end payoff is worth the burnout, I guess.😂

Another awesome video. Learning how the parts can work with one another is honestly my favorite part of the game. I did the same thing you did, when I starting exploring this game. I very heartily agree start small and work your way up. I'm running a Classic Career as my first play through, with a creative sandbox for R&D test beds and first trials. Playing this way has allowed me to continue my Classic Career in a relaxed fashion. The one thing on game play I "learned" is run a series of 10 saves for your classic career and ALWAYS save before taking another step of the rescue. So many excess trips have been negated after failing the first attempt. Keep up the awesome work good sir! 😎

I really get point 3, I have yet to built any large bay ships, I like to make the biggest ships you can put in the small starter base shipyard, stuff like a small tanker, small container carrier, even started a truck to clear my head. Right now I started to change them all to be more maintainable and give them modular engines, since most were build before we had stuff like welders.

Thank you so much for this video its really inspiring, tbh i feel like these are the most important videos because most people always try to start a project head on without planning, and due to that the get stuck in certain areas then get burned out and eventually abandon the project. im super excited for your next video

ive been playing since release and still dont understand how to make a plane, bulbous bow, helicopter, vtol, basically anything other than a small boat and also i only learnt how to use engines a month ago i was using electric motors all the time before i knew how, so yeah i dont think my 5 years of experience are as good as your 2 years, but this video is pretty helpfull

I think for the too many ideas, you should make a google doc of your ideas and think of what one you want most and then do it, cross it off, then repeat.

Been playing stormworks for years now. I just started trying to build my own stuff and I'm enjoying it. They're super basic as I have no patients for details but they function very well. Built a small ship, moved on to a medium sized that has functional engine order telegraphs with steam whistles. Next up I'm building an experimental battleship.

ok so i was wondering, if you not already making one, if you could build an off shore oil platform, i think it would be so cool

I played Scrap mechanic, simple planes, terra tech, especially from the depths and an old Game on Roblox similar to this when I was young.

Who needs testing when you can just go all in and crash to learn for yourself! It'll be fine

put a crane or two on the platform if it isnt too hard.
btw my ideas for the crane include that you make it as a crane you can use for any other project that requires one.

What are those switches called? I cannot find them! those little red ones, not the keys or the buttons.
