I have a gap in the center top of my teeth and its part of my being. I can shoot jet streams of water right through that thing as a defense mechanism. I think it's unique aesthetically because everybody always wants the same style of teeth. I love my gap, and if I ever did get my teeth fixed I would leave it in but fix all other aspects of my smile.

This is what I have. I am missing both lateral incisors, so my central incisors occupied their space, leaving me with a wide diastema. It's something that runs in my family, so I had never paid much attention to it. I knew I still had a beautiful and unique smile. Then I started going to the dentist more frequently because of a cavity, and that got me thinking about fixing the gap. I had some money saved up, so I said "why not". I've been wearing braces (top teeth) and aligners (bottom teeth) since last November. The central gap is almost fully closed, it will close in a month or so. However, now I have gaps where my lateral incisors should be. My dentist and I are still trying to figure out what the next step will be, whether I want a dental bridge, an implant or something else; but I'm happy that I went ahead with the orthodontics treatment. Although I do miss my gap sometimes. One thing that I have realised while on the treatment is that nobody has perfect teeth. I still smile as much and as wide as I used to do before I got braces. So don't feel bad if you can't afford or if you don't want to "fix" your teeth. It's all good as long as they are healthy!

I had a gap all my life, but I got it closed about 4 years ago. I ended up getting a bridge because I had a missing tooth also. This was the best thing that I could have done. I feel more confident and I smile more. Everyone has to do what makes them happy. This change did wonders for me.

I was a thumb sucker until 10 and it made my gap worse. Plus I had a cross bite. I didn’t get braces until I was an adult and my gap closed in a week. I had braces for 2 years and my smile is the best it’s ever been. Metal braces and elastic bands for the win 😁

Thank you so much, I’m still a kid and I have a gap. I always thought it would stay like that, today my brother said to me “you could fit 4 planes in-between those 2 teeth” which made me storm off crying. None of my parents have a gap, but both my sister and I have it. Turns out my mother’s maternal grandfather had it. Apparently, it skipped his daughter and granddaughter, but passed to his great-granddaughters 😒
