If anyone is confused, he means to word it as, putting in a notice that you quit and your last day is the first of the following month. Example: It’s currently Aug. 24, you would say you’re last day is Sept. 1

In Canada, we have private 'extended' insurance that covers the things that aren't covered by national health (mainly drugs, non-emergency dental and room upgrades). And that usually ends the day you quit.

That being said, most medical needs are covered by national health and drugs and dental are covered if your earnings are below a certain amount.

One thing to note if you quit on first day of the month they will still charge you health insurance for entire month in your full and final payment. So it is not as if your full month insurance is free. You still pay for it.

Lol, in my country we get 6, months and after that you can get an insurance plan via the State, depending if you're a student or independent worker

No the best way to quit is to go in an quit same day. The whole 2 week notice is BS since they can fire you spontaneously.

You can also say you worked at the employer an extra month, by quitting on the first day of the new month you can get away with putting the extra month on your resume.

Yes and if you quit willingly you lose said insurance hours from that said job. You must have a another job at the same time or have a new one shortly after or the day of quitting the old job in Canada.

He left out what I believe to be the more important. Ensure you have another job offer in hand before you give notice to your current job. An "extra" month of insurance will absolutely be needed if you will not have insurance available from day one at the new job.
