Fix DVD drive not read disc blank disc slow read and skipping error read

If your DVD driver or DVD writer is getting old and cranky (and not worth repairing), it might be time to open up the case and give the old insides a good dusting.

00:00 Open case DVD drive. Remove four Phillips screws on the both sides (2 on each side).

00:15 Dip one end of a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol (best), water (clean) can work too. Rug it, very soft. Simple solution.

00:28 The best dry clean, Swap CCD Cleaner (for CMOS sensor cleaner). Like Swap cleaner for CCD sensor. No need liquid if you clean with Swap cleaner.

00:43 Put back and test
Test before DVD writer can't read or work normal like usually

After fix, DVD drive or DVD writer can read faster, that already fix.

Problem solved if DVD drive or DVD writer.
Slow recognition a disc / DVD media, sometime waiting and waiting
DVD disc not detect, blank without file
Slow tranfer DVD Disc to harddive
Copy file from DVD Disc, stop responding or slow respon
Watching DVD movie , artifact image or skipping. Because sensor not really good to read information from disc

Problem very simple, specially old DVD drive or DVD writer.
Sensor optic lens dirty, just clean up

Fantastic and simple. My DVD hasn't worked for a few years so we just quit using it. I was going to throw it away today and buy a new one. But with your video, I fixed it and it works perfectly. Amazingly simple. Thanks for posting this.

my DVD drive reads CDs but no longer reads DVD, I tried cleaning the lens with earbuds with no cleaning liquid, with no results

thanks for sharing this even though this is not the only fix video out there for this although it was well put together and turned out nicely, helped with a sata dvd-rom drive i bought from goodwill from 2010.
