Windows 10 sucks on so many levels, not recognising/opening old disks with drivers is just one of them! With the latest update of W10 they did even remove that 0:53 'Hardware and devices' troubleshooter! So much about user friendly software!

My computer won't let me run troubleshoot. Also, no DVD/CD ROM drives appears in the device manager.

I installed an old software on my PC that used to work on my Win 10. I uninstalled it a few years ago and then decided to reuse it but when I reinstalled it, I lost my DVD function so I ended up uninstalling it again. The regedit tactic you explained worked to get back my DVD function. Question: (You may not know the answer but) If I reinstalled the software and lose my DVD function but this time keep the software on my PC, will doing the regedit trick again (with software still installed) bring back my DVD function?

Regedit worked me, after unstalling Sony photo software was left with no USB or DVD/CD many thanks for the fix ❤

Hello. Thank you for this. Unfortunately it did not work for me. I downloaded and installed 5K Player from its website and it worked for me. I can now play my workout DVDs on my laptop using an external DVD hard drive.

I downloaded a free program. Works fine now.

How long is a laptop computer suppose to last? I have had several and they only last me 3 or 4 years before they go bad. The left-click key came off and I scotch taped it back in place. It still works now after I punch it 2 or 3 times. And I am not rough with the computer keys....they are just cheaply made imo....I have owned hp brand. Which brand is the most durable? I had a Lenovo once and it was a lemon first day.
