Rishi Sunak defends Met Police

Prime Minister on the Met Police, the Coronation and local elections

Rishi Sunak has backed the Metropolitan Police amid accusations that the arrests of protesters were a deliberate attempt to “disrupt and diminish” dissent during the King’s coronation.

The Prime Minister insisted on Monday that officers act independently of government based on “what they think is best” after claims they were cracking down at the behest of politicians.

His sickly smiling proves nothing ... there was clearly an agreement at top levels that police would exceed their powers and deliberately break the law ( to avoid embarrasment to Charlie). Police now apologising and Sunak thinks that supporting them, smiling and deflecting makes this This is the same as when the Met Police did their utmost not to proscute Johnson and then did the absolute miniumum they could. The ONLY way someone can become Met Police commisioner is to be TOTALLY subservient to their political masters (instead of following the law as they should). Met Police are not totally corrupt at the bottom ... but they are corrupted at the top by their lack of spines when told to break the law by downing street.
