Great insights, good Sir. I use the TRAIN method (Tune, Relief, Action, Intonation, and Noodle.) Your suggestion on pressing the strings down at the bridge saddles (witness point) is something many musicians are not aware of. Lovely bass, and I ONLY use LaBella Deep Talkin' flatwounds.

That string angle going through the body over the bridge is insane. Every bass ive had with a steep string angle, no where close to that, the strings snap quite soon

does measurements really work? isnt really dependand on the player? how hard he/her hit the strings etc?

Did you use the LaBella string through series where the silk extends further from the ball end to prevent the string from snapping/breaking from the sharp through body angle?

I have 5 basses and when i adjust the truss rod til the neck is nearly straight, lower my strings and even though i have no fret buzz my basses sound very muffled. I can't get much volume out of them until i have about .008-.010 neck relief and bring the string action up a little.
Possibly the nuts are too high?
Some of them are plastic and don't seem to be adjustable.

What does your ruler say that the bass string height should be? I’ve been looking around and keep seeing different answers

Is there a specific straight edge for bass to see if the neck is warp or not

I have a PJ, I'm struggling with getting the pickups balanced. The P pups are about a 1/4" higher than the J. It doesn't sound good at all when I blend the pups.

On a guitar I always adjust the action before I check the intonation. Didn't know you did it the other way on a bass. TIL

He makes it look easy, , but unfortunately that quick slick setup don’t work in the real world … It only works if the neck is perfectly flat with no slight twist, and if every fret is perfectly level.. I guarantee that’s never the case 😊
