I think they've done a good job this season. Making the throne closer to the book description, but also you can see how after Robert took it he could just get rid of the extended parts and just keep the chair part. Littlefinger had said the GoT version was 150. I would be curious to hear if the HotD version is closer to the 1000 it's supposed to be.

To be fair. George has never gave anyone fan or Hollywood artist credit for accurately depicting the Iron Throne. At this point most people think his ego won't let him give people credit for his own creation. After season 7 and 8 I don't blame him

I wanted the original throne. It was said to be alive in spirit and nick rulers if unhappy causing infections and loss of fingers.

Honestly always thought the books descriptions were a bit silly and I prefer the show, especially Boyd’s adaptation

Ironic the main reason why Iron Throne is made of swords its because it was meant to represent that being a ruler is not an easy responsibility and a great duty to carry yet a lot of people wanted to claim it in the name of power and one of the only few people who realized this was Aegon II who despite being a drunkard rapist knows the great burden that awaits whoever sits on the Iron Throne and he was aware that he himself doesnt have the skills of a Monarch which is why he doesnt want to usurp Rhaenryra in the first place.
