This video shows you how simple and easy it can be when preparing your pets a fresh meal.
We also talk about the percentages your pets should be getting based off age, weight and ideal weight.
The fact is most YouTubers that make fresh meals for your pets are not showing you how to make a Balanced meal.
Most are just filled with rice which is nothing more than a carb overload and very unhealthy for your pet!
We will also talk about D.C.M (Canine Dilated Cardiomyopathy) , why you shouldn't be feeding peas, lentils, legumes, rice, etc.

I have been researching and feeding my dogs raw food for almost 5 years. (With help from my vet)

But how has this video NEVER shown up in any of my searches or been recommended??

This is hands down the best introduction to a balanced home made food for dogs, with incredible detail.

I have cooked for my dog for years, he has meat and veg plus thickened with porridge oats. He has hard boiled eggs with cottage cheese every ten days or so, also sardines in tomato sauce. He is 10kg in weight all of his life, never has he eaten artificial colourings or fillers. And he is at present 15 years old and 5 months. I have also made doggie Jewish chicken soup when he became ill with a tummy upset. The chicken water kept his fluids up when he wasn't keen on drinking water much. I have fed this for my last 2 dogs now, Dennis is still with us at plus 15, and my black lab lived to be 14.

This is one of the best beginner recipes I've seen. Very good job. I've been feeding raw for 20 years. I miss the good old days when people realized that it did not have to be complicated. and thank you for mentioning that this is just the beginning, that there are other aspects to it, such as different proteins, etc. But this is a great place to start for most people.

Great content. I lightly cook the meat, but believe fresh is the only way to go. One thing I've learned through the years, is the vet. is never the one to help. These videos are priceless.

also many of the kibble brands especially the healthy ones have been tested and shown positive for mycotoxins. Mold toxicity in animals AND humans is no joke and can be a silent killer. Thank you for making this video!

I’ve been feeding home cooked for over a yr now. I do a half raw and half cooked or gently cooked. I can’t feed turkey and chicken I can feed only feed for a short time before it upsets her tummy. My girl gets beef, bison, lamb, pork, veal and venison. Vegetables are either raw are steamed and blended. I also change up veggies fed. My girl gets ALL kinds of organs(heart, spleen, pancreas, reproductive organs, eyes, esophagus, lunges, liver, glands, exc). She loves when I share dog safe fruits with her and goat milk and kefir are her all time favorite treat. My girl is healthy and happy and our vet is impressed and told me to keep doing what I’m doing. Because my girl is super energetic with a high metabolism, she is fed 2.5-3% of her 52lbs.

Two weeks ago, I started cooking for my dogs using a recipe from another video.
1. So much work
2. Lots of dishes to clean
3. Using rice, peas and sweet potatoes (yikes)
4. Cooking instead of raw
What a video! I was heading to the store with the rice, peas and sweet potatoes on my list. You just saved the day!

THANK YOU! ❤

Thank you so much for sharing your homemade dog food recipe on YouTube! My 50 lb, 13 year old girl loves it! She has always been a finicky eater but had been eating less (good quality kibble and wet dog food) over the last few weeks, and I was concerned about her. I finally did some research and came upon your video which seemed to offer such a better diet and very easy to prepare. The next day, I bought the ingredients, prepared her first meal and watched in awe as she ate every bit of it. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

One of the better videos out there. I to have studied pet nutrition and it can be an extremely confusing topic as one person says never use and the next person has it in their balanced diet. I understand that peas and legumes and sweet potato proteins used for kibble purposes are linked to the heart problems. But that again is because of the amounts and the way it's processed you can use fresh in small amounts as part of a balanced diet as potatoes and sweet potatoes are a great source of potassium. Broccoli florets can cause digestive problems in some dogs so I would just add stems or add different vegetables. I tend to use cauliflower, and squash or pumpkin as we know that it has a high bioavailability for dogs. I also try and use 1/3 cauliflower 1/3 squash and 1/3 a mixture of veggies for my vegetable portion. I was happy to see the fish oil used as flax seed isn't bioavailable for dogs. I would suggest for those people cooking, don't add the fish oil until you are finished cooking. The only thing I do different is that I do add 10% carbohydrates in the way of quinoa and oatmeal. I am wondering if you have other videos like this one that focuses on other ingredients such as chicken. And how you feed bone. Personally I give my dogs (farm dogs) a raw drumstick for breakfast. You should also be mentioning that the organ meat should be a combination of hearts (for taurine), livers (vitamins and enzymes), and gizzards for a natural source of glucosamine. Good work 👍 make more diet videos.

I worked as a veterinary technician at an emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. This is one of the best, informative, accurate, educational and beginner friendly instruction videos! There are many many illnesses that do not show physical symptoms right away, autoimmune, ext. That foods can directly effect. Either positive or negative. If you have a pet with an underlying illness consult a licensed veterinarian prior to introducing any new diet. And remember with many professionals unfortunately money is their motive. So contemplate, educate, research and consult with others to get to the main base. Find a vet you trust that has the best interest of your pet.

I love this video…but the music gets really loud at times and I can barely hear what is said. I haven’t seen other videos so maybe it’s just this particular one…but everything that is said is 100% correct! Thank you!❤

Absolutely true with DCM I started feeding my dog a grain-free premium kibble for many years thinking I was doing him a favor. He passed away last month. He was leaking from two heart valves had major depression and was lethargic. He was only 8 years old.

Subscribed. I’m so glad to have found this channel. I’ve just began making homemade food for my 12 y.o. Pug, and have been using sweet potatoes and peas. I’ll stop using it immediately. Very informative.

Great recipe for feeding our dogs! Thanks! :)

Just a word of caution on the "studies" you shared on DCM and grain-free kibble ... Did you read the fine print on who sponsored that study? Did you notice which kibble companies are conveniently not listed on the "bad" list? Do you know how that list was compiled? Do you know the final word from the FDA on all this?

Very long story short ... Study was Purina sponsored by vets Freeman and Stern (his California based study was on a small group (20ish) of Golden Retrievers). A very biased FACEBOOK group in 2018-2020 compiled the list of DCM ill dogs, and eliminated and/or BLOCKED all dogs/owners/vets/scientists who did not agree with their predetermined agenda. They strongly pushed reporting to FDA if your ill dog ate one of the foods on their "bad" list, but no reporting pressure if kibble was on the "good" list. Result was that many small "boutique" dog food companies were pushed out/injured, and Purina & friends made a killing in sales. Final finding by FDA was that they could find NO LINK between grain-free kibble diets in dogs and DCM.

By-the-way, BARF is a grain-free diet. ;)

Been doing this since January this year. I can’t thank you enough. My golden retriever is visibly healthier. She has never had a shinier coat, her hair has grown longer. She wasn’t overweight but I can tell she leaned out more. Most Importantly she is right next to me salivating as I am preparing her meal. This makes me so happy as She had completely lost interest in eating the kibble we were feeding her (for over 7 years). The first couple of weeks were rough with the I consistent 💩💩💩. Now she is regular. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
