Why You Don't Feel Like Reading The Bible

We all have been there... wanting to read the Bible but not feeling like it. Does that make us bad Christians? Does it mean we don't love God? I think it's the contrary. I think it's something we must overcome in order to truly show God how much we love Him.

I have made myself read my Bible for the last 4 months 20-30 minutes everyday no matter how tired I am I figure if Jesus can give his life for me and forgive me for the things I’ve done I can stop scrolling on my phone

Because many of us struggle with this so the fact that He made you not want to read it is probably so you can relate to us so the rest of His people don’t feel alone.

"you must tell your time where to go, otherwise you will always wonder where the time went"

"You must tell your time where to go, otherwise you will always wonder where the time went" - That's a good statement!

I used to feel bad when i didn't feel like reading, but my mum told me to always do this "be quite, still and meditate on scripture i have already learnt"-just like how David says in psalms 5
It has really helped me

John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
…..Sometimes your going to be bored sometimes your gonna to be tired, sometimes your not gonna want to do it. But the way you grow any habit is when you commit to it. Before hand you’re saying that you’re choosing to do this because you know that if you do this, we will see the results of growing closer to God. ❤thank you Spencer for this I truly needed it ❤

Sometimes reading the Bible is like going to the gym. At first you don’t feel like doing it, but as soon as you do, you feel much better.

I completely agree, understanding the dynamics between emotions and discipline is crucial. It's comforting to know that feeling a lack of desire to read the Bible doesn't equate to being a bad Christian. Recognizing that discipline often means doing what we should even when we don't feel like it is a vital aspect of spiritual growth.

And of course! Overcoming challenges is an integral part of our journey with Jesus. Just as the Apostle Paul grappled with his own struggles, we too will face obstacles along the way. By pushing through these difficult seasons and prioritizing our relationship with God, we can deepen our faith and draw closer to Him.

That is what I'm feeling right now, and what I've been feeling all along. Makes it had to read my Bible. Thank you so much. And God bless you.

I appreciate your detailed honesty on your struggle at times in reading your Bible and your emphasis on scheduling regular time, using study aids and reading with groups and friends. Your transparency is refreshing.

Thank you brother. I was just thinking why I feel like this yesterday. Because God had me found this video without even being subscribed, I will pick up my Bible and see what he wants to tell me and what I can learn from The Lord. God bless you man🙏🏽✝

Thank you! God knew I needed to hear this. I always read the word daily in different ways so it isn’t a lack of desire it’s more like a comparison of how other peoples relationship is to God which had me feeling down believing I’m not doing enough or examining critically my thoughts and desires but this was a good reminder to stop those toxic thoughts and remember those verses. I thank God all the time that Paul wrote these things to us bc He knew we would need the reassurance!

Thanks for the share and reminder. 😊 I liked what you said to make a schedule, because I believe it will turn to a habit in that way. I've turned it into a habit to listen to my audio Bible app every morning when I wake up, while praying in the spirit, and in this way I've listened through the sum of The Holy Word several times, and I know that my faith grows by listening to His Word.

However, i also need to sit down with my "paper" Bible each day, and I've noticed that that hasn't become an easy task, because i so easily let myself distract from it and I'm not proud of it. I've also noticed that when I decide to pick up my Bible and start to read and ponder, the time is going so quickly and I really don't want to stop reading!

Abba Father, I know that it is super important to get stronger in the sum of Your Holy Word, so I can learn to know You as You are, learn Your way and will, and not go astray from Your Word and heart, so I thank You for helping me and my brothers and sisters in The Lord to faithfully read 📖 and ponder on Your Word daily, especially when we don't feel like it, in Yeshua's Name! Amen!
