I remember this Formula 1 race that had a horrible accident, one of the contestant's breaks didn't work and the car ended up flipping and rolling off the track. Another contestant that was in the top 5 stopped his car and went to help this guy even tho that would mean a sure race loss. I remember this selfless act even today. I can't explain why, but sometimes in life, there is this feeling that overcomes us to "do the right thing".

It's crazy how this man explains everything in such a brilliant way!

Really wish this kind of thinking was more prevalent in our culture.

I started racing in 3rd grade. My first race, I won 1st place. And I always win races. And when I lose, I was a sore loser. I wouldn't accept defeat that lightly, because I was so used to winning. Even at 2nd place, I consider that losing already. And when I acted up, my dad got upset, because he said that's not how I should act, and I should have more fun than actually winning. He never explained why. And I've always thought I was having fun because I was winning. I just followed him and when I lost, I tried to act it was okay. And from then on, I wasn't a loser who acted up when I don't get first place. Honestly... whether it's a subtle thing that I carried over to my young adult life, I can't ignore the fact that it probably impacted me more than I thought it did. I am honestly a person I would want to meet in my lifetime at this point. I am a conscious person, I go to the gym, I'm very social in any social setting than before because I'm an introvert. And it's all because I just want thing to be a little bit more fun than when I wasn't present at a place. Let's get better everyday kings and queens 💪

Winning is just a product of improving yourself. Winning games comes naturally when you become the best version of yourself. This goes beyond sports. Nowadays people put to much emphasis on the "win" but not the actual science of why a "win" happens.

This made me realize that the way people approach games is usually the exact same way that they approach life....that was a crazy thing to contemplate

I've been told: 'Winning alone is not enough. Everyone else must also lose' which never quite sit right with me.

Dad actually taught me that losing has way more value than our society gives it credit for.

Winners get the trophy, short term success to put something on a shelf that says we were really good.

Losers though get a test, a divine test to grow themselves offered only to them. Growing up I always thought it was weird he wasn’t making it about my skill, but my attitude was always the thing he was trying to teach me on.

Thank God for that. He taught me how to find silver linings, how to look at a loss and see it as a way to seek areas of improvement, a great extension of that lesson was how to ask the best kid on the field for help, and in a catastrophic defeat, be the kid least phased personally with the most positive outlook, a great extension of that lesson was to learn to smile and enjoy myself in tough scenarios.

I’d practice basketball, but I never realized he was teaching me how to handle the storms of life. Thanks so much dad.

Exactly, it is written in the gita, don't worry about the result, but keep doing your part as best as you can, and accept your result. If you follow this you will automatically win at life 🙏

He’s talking about life as an infinite game vs the short-sighted and short-term finite game.

Simon Sinek has a great book and lecture(s) on this.

Absolutely brilliant articulation. Makes me ponder on my message here, how I can get even remotely close to Dr. Peterson

You will win either way, winning or lossing by gaining experience. We dont need to scare someone if we lose.

I totally agree with you professor, thats why in the game when we lose we tend to be sport, because we understand the manner and values of accepting defeat and challenges in life either it's in sport or even how you gambling your life, we learn to accept failure as well we define the behaviour when once we encounter a failure and in kind you become sport and professional ....God bless Professors Jordan Peterson and more power
