I have a blueheeler. We got him at 6 weeks old and as a family we all decided to call him Blue. But I personally now call him Booboo. The number 1 reason we decided to get a blue heeler was so that I can have a running/hiking partner a year after my border collie passed away. I had no idea just how energetic blueheelers were until Blue. He's hiked up to 43 miles in a week with me, easy. I was never able to do that with my other dogs. When we are not hiking, we do 3 to 5 miles daily walk on a trail close to home. Once a month we take a couple of days off to relax and do nothing. They are also loud dogs, and like to bark a lot, engaging in conversations:) He seemed to be a 1 person dog, very independent, and does not like to cuddle too much. I grab him sometimes and force a cuddle on him. He groans and roles his eyes at me, letting me know he rather just lay beside me. Or he will roll over, begging me for a body massage instead. I usually get kisses and affection from him during meal times. He hates it when I leave the house, and when I get home he is right there. He follows me everywhere, even to the bathroom. The only time he spent time with family members is when I am gone and he is getting rubs, otherwise, he will sit by the door waiting for me to get home. From my personal experience, blueheelers make a great running/hiking partner. I have a very young grandson occasionally visit me, and he wants to nip him, so I ALWAYS make sure I keep an eye on Blue, or if I am physically playing with my grandson, I have to put him in our room for an hour. So I do not think they are great around small children. No problem with my older teens. Anyways, knowing dogs have a shorter life span than humans, I dread losing him someday, because I can no longer picture my life without him:(

My girl has an unusual job, she goes to work with me every day. It’s been her routine since she was 8 weeks old, she gets so mad if she doesn’t get to see her co-workers and customers. She is the best assistant ever.

They are called velcro dogs for a reason, they must be with you.

I've had a blue heeler. Freddy was a rescue from a farm. He was destructive on the farm at a young age bc he was left alone and not trained. I got him when he was 6. The most loyal dog I've ever owned.
Bc Freddy wasnt trained I was limited to his activities. He didn't play well with others with the exception of young coming to the home. He was a parental figure in my home.
Great companions. I wouldn't get another tho. My life doesn't have time for the energy of a heeler anymore.
If you are thinking of getting a heeler. It's a full time job. Great truck dog for the person that has the ability to have a pet by there side.

I adopted my heeler Kiah at 5 years old direct from a family that gave her up as they were unable to give her the time she needed. She had many bad habits. Biting, nipping, obsessively trying to get interaction from anyone and everyone. Happily and with the help of a good trainer it all worked out for me. BUT - I am retired and have 12 acres. She has room to run. And all my vacations include her. So road trips and camping are our usuals. These dogs are not to be taken lightly. Yet they are delightful in the right home.

mine was a red heeler named blue and he was the best dog i ever had!! we got him as a puppy and he was super sweet, though i think he had a mischevious side to him as well since he liked to pick up stuff and run away (he did steal but eventually stopped and just stole wood from our firewood stash) i miss him, he recently passed but he was a real loving dog <3

My blue heeler is wary of strangers. So typical of the breed. He may start a fight with another male dog, but only if the dog is his size or bigger. I've never seen him get in a fight with a female dog or a small dog. For years I've taken him running through bush tracks. He's always off leash there, and I have no concerns about him biting someone in public spaces. He's always happy to see people on the track. He's not going to run up to be patted or something. His body language is "hello are you having a good time? I am." The vet once said "he's friendly on his terms". He's so smart, so loyal and loving. When you've had a blue heeler
in your life, you don't want to be without one.

We just got a 10 week old blue heeler / hanging tree cross. He's a smart little pup. It only took me 2 days to get him house trained. It only took him a day to learn the basic commands, like come, sit, calm and load up. Heelers are extremely intelligent dogs. With 7 kids, 5 of which are extremely energetic boys, he burns off his excess energy quite quickly. He is a great family dog.

My two year old Heeler Wylie is the best dog, but endless energy. Fortunately I am now retired and live in a rural area of Washington State, so he is thriving. What a funny and friendly dog!

Lola is the best friend and dog I could have ever asked for. She is 5.5 years old. All though, I did get really lucky with her as a puppy. Never destroyed anything. She is so smart and so loyal. She doesn’t leave my side when I am sleeping and if she does it’s to tell someone to go away. I swear I could leave a door open and she would never leave me. She actually does chill when I am sitting on the couch binging Nextflix she is right by my side She is addicted to her laser light (great night exercise), and she loves her “things”. She is the biggest cuddle bug there is. She literally walks herself by carrying her leash in her mouth and has since she was a pup. She listens when I tell her to wait for me or to slow down. I talk to her as if she were a human and she actually understands what I’m saying. Life with Lola is wonderful ❤

My blue heeler Finnegan just turned one year. I call him my adventure pup. He is always ready for a new adventure. Fiercely loyal with a strong independent streak, he helps on our ranch with my goats. I find routine “jobs” are a must as well as spontaneous excursions. He’s the dog I never thought I needed, and I can’t imagine each day without him.

I have 4 1/2 old female named Bella. She is such a joy! She is my second Cattle Dog and I would never have anything else. They are very strong willed and stubborn, so you have to strongly remind them from time to time that you’re the Alpha. They are so fiercely loyal and protective and, as the video says, don’t like to be alone. Bella goes with me all the time except for formal occasions, and I recommend this very highly! Nice video!!

I have a one and a half year old girl named Bella. Beautiful she surely is. I have an interview for a job five hours away tomorrow. Though she has yet to travel with me long distance this video convinced me to take her with me. Wish us luck. I love my best buddy.

My boy Scout is pushing 5 years in December and is high energy we go out in the mornings before I head to work and play when I get off and go on hikes. He’s very loving and fiercely loyal and protective when he doesn’t know someone but not aggressive by any means. He doesn’t jump on kids or nip at them but the total opposite with adults but it’s playful and he knows when to stop. He’s a total gentleman with women however.

My girl is 1, Miss Rango. She is extremely attached to humans and will behave perfectly if she gets to come along for adventures. Her recall and training ability are insane. Amazing listener. She is sweet as a button, gentle and great with other dogs and kids. Buttt she takes A LOT of energy and if her energy is not properly taken care of in the morning, she will get into anything she can at home. We had to bungeee our pantry closed because we’d come home to different torn into snacks every day. Overall, ball OBSESSED, loves to swim and a big cuddle bug at night. They are a lot of work, but man, they are rewarding ❤️

Mine is a red about 2 now I got her from a shelter about a year ago and it has taken all this time to regain her trust but it's so worth it. I call her my solar puppy because if the sun is shining she's working, swimming or playing with the other dogs I am a handyman so she goes to work with me. if I had a normal job I wouldn't be able to take care of her the way she needs it's constant but very rewarding.

My 3yr old gal, Dakota, is a big time protector of us and our yard. ....just ask any squirrels that have made the mistake of stepping in yard. 🤦‍♀️
The squirrels just run up trees and bark at her as she trees them. Fun to watch..
Got a new pup, Cheyenne, 4mths old. I ask myself often "what was I thinking? " lol She reminded me quick like how "busy " they are. We live out in the country and have woods all around....my carport looks like a pulp mill from limbs she drags up and chews on....lol
Gotta love a heeler

Our Blue Heeler is just over 1 year old. Her intelligence, loyalty and energy is beyond measure. I am sure she would "take a bullet" to save us ... We have an acreage property in the country with about 3/4 of an acre fenced for her outdoor area so she has lots of room to run and play whatever game she has in mind. In my opinion the most beautiful sight is to watch her run its amazing how fast she is, it seems like a a 100 yard dash is immediate acceleration and 5 seconds, she lays her ears back and tail out I guess for streamlining... if she's not running she never just walks, its more like prancing.... Loves the snow and water, when we water the garden she wants to be blasted with the hose. I read somewhere that if a Blue Heelers DNA is compared to a wolf that it can be up to a 96% match. Plainly the breed is not for everyone. But if you're up to the demands of owning this breed then go for it you won't have any regrets. When we play or after she greets us she like to play what I call "footsie" she rolls on her back and nips very lightly at the toe of my shoes I suppose from her instincts to herd cattle which is amazing imagine a 40 pound dog herding and 800 pound steer

Picked up a blue heeler mix yesterday. 5 weeks old. She already asks to go outside to pee and has learned not to bite me, and is learning to have 4 on the floor. I thought, she is so hyper, I’d better start right away. She had a rough day today - cried and cried, and as soon as i figured out her heating blanket was off and turned it back on, she went right to sleep. This is a nice video to help me get to know my new friend.
