Common Objections to Calvinism Pt1

“In order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them.” Romans 11:14
So in preaching the gospel to the Gentiles Paul is hoping that some Jews will get jealous and they will repent. The truth is when the gospel is preached and Gentiles turn to Christ the Jews actually do not get jealous at all. They actually get angry, that’s why there was Jews that chased Paul around persecuting him not because they were jealous but because they hated Paul and hated the gospel. But those that get jealous and repent are the Jews that God has chosen to regenerate so they would believe.

I’m curious to know how Jealousy would have anything to do with people believing in Christ if you wouldn’t mind.

Rom 11:7 ¶ What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded

11 ¶ I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.


So how does jealousy encourage people to believe If total depravity and unconditional election are true?
